No I am not agree, Gujarat model of development is not an universe and perfect model. India is cluster of different states. Every state have different climate, sand structure, habit of peoples and some more. Gujarati known for their business skill for ancient time. Peoples all Punjab are known for their agriculture skill. So Model of Gujarat is not good for Punjab. Agriculture in India is depends of mansoon. It is game of uncertainty. Few state like Punjab and Haryana, which have good network of canals is doing good in this field. Here in Rajasthan farmers are committing suicide because of failure of mansoon in last two months.

I don't know how many Indians are proud of M. F. Hussain but the point is how many Indians understand the various aspects of art. Most of the people are not that knowledgeable regarding art and so they judge the work only what they see through their open eyes. So, there is nothing wrong when a section of people protested to the obscene projection of Hindu Goddess. Can anyone of us tolerate any one of our family members be painted nude by any artist? No, we won't accept it then how can we accept our Goddess in such projection. That is asking for too much. So, in my opinion it was wrong. We know, India believes in freedom of speech but hate speech is an offence similarly art that leave a bad taste must be banned because it enhances the conflict of mind and heart. While saying all this against Hussain's particular piece of art, I will not change my opinion about the honour conferred on him. A lack of sensitivity in a particular art piece should not be the judging point of one's artistic skill. He deserves to be honoured because of his gross art work.

In many legal cases such as murder, honour killing, rape and so on in which powerful people are involved then we get to see very reputed legal professionals fighting the case in favour of such beings. I know it's their profession and it is also known that in legal case truth is changed into false and vice versa but somehow I feel a bit discomfort. No one is above the law and no profession is above morality so in such a situation I am of the opinion that the legal professionals must stand up for the victim. It will help in eradicating the social evil from the society. Earning money should not be the only aim but must serve a right purpose.

ABSIVAKUMAR created new topic How can we break the Prime Minster's silence?.
How is that our Prime Minister can keep quiet against his own Chief Ministers involved in massive corruption? How is that our great PM has not spoken a single word? Is he Congress right in asking for the resignation of the Minister for External Affairs?
Can the Prime Minister even now keep quiet, when so much precious time has already been lost in Parliament?

The notice was sent by the Secy. CBSE on behalf of Smriti Irani. The minister must not have insisted the Secy. to send it through her office. Because it was just a congratulatory letter addressed to the Teachers of all schools.

Being a Muslim artiste did not in any way hinder M F Hussain in his growth as an artiste of repute within India. In fact, he was given a free 4000 sq ft plot by the Karnataka government under the artistes quota ,in the upmarket Koramangala area where he built a palatial house , which has been now sold for a very high price to a hotelier, thereby making his children self sufficient !
The major problem with his paintings was the way he depicted Hindu Goddesses and people – ‘Durga in a sexual union with a tiger’ , 'Goddess Lakshmi naked on Ganesha’s head', Naked Sita, Naked Draupadi, Naked Parvati , Naked Bhartmata , Naked Brahmin with a fully clothed Muslim King. Now , compare these with his other paintings - Fully clothed Mother Teresa, His daughter Fully clothed, His mother fully clothed, Muslim poets and Muslim ladies fully clothed. One wonders what exactly was he trying to prove ? did his artistic expression and imagination work overtime while depicting Hindu dieties or is that how he imagined them?
I have always wondered about these contradictions in him as an artiste and private individual who from all accounts was loved by his neighbors and everybody else he came into contact with but was so very insensitive when it came to his paintings !

The sc-called Gujarat Model, is often touted as the best model of development. It is well known that the heavy bias was there in terms of heavy industry and huge private sector employment and the service sector development. But critics have pointed out how Gujarat flopped heavily, when it came to agriculture. So, is it the right model of development? Do we have alternate models that can also be considered?

Not sure how exactly people function in the ministry but if the Board made the error, shouldn't the minister or at least her PA checked it before it was sent to the teachers. It was going on her behalf after all..How can she sign without reading the contents?

Iwas talking un the Indian condition and am happy that a plea bargaining system has been introduced in India also. If t helps in decongesting it is a good but still the services of lawyers on both sides will be needed.

@Chinmoy : Sorry if you feel I got you wrong. That was not the intention. I am not able to recall any trial where the accused has accepted guilt in a court and that is the end of the trial. Human nature being what it is rarely anyone will agree to his guilt taking the chance that he may escape free.

James Earl Ray,the killer of Martin Luther
King did plead guilty and so did Godse
by owning up the murder of Gandhi. In the
USA "plea bargaining" decides most of the
criminal cases which is also accepted in majority of
European countries and after much hesitation
and intense deliberations India too has
warmed up to it by introducing this concept
in our Cr. PC.It is true that it rare in
human to be repenting but I am the prospect
of lesser punishment would force many accused
to resort to plea bargaining and help decongesting
thousands of criminal cases which clog Indian
courts today. The new chapter XXIA in the
Cr. PC,I believe,is just a small beginning.

In the community of painters M F Hussain was at the very top. He painted as he saw the subject through his eyes, and that is what every painter dies. It is the viewers who interpret the painting as per their value system and biases and prejudices. I had an opportunity to see his "Durga" paintings during Emargency in mid 1975 at Jehangir Gallery in Mumbai, Only three paintings were on display. There was a large crowd gathered to see them. For a long time I did not hear anything negative about the paintings till some fringe elements accused the painter of painting Hindu goddess naked and his harassment started. For that matter in the picture of Bharat mata above I do not see anything wrong or vulgar. It is a way of portraying a vision in color on canvas. But others may see hell of a lot. That Hussain was Muslim also went against him because towards end of his life the fundamentalist school of thought was gaining foothold and he was perhaps its first victim. This does not rob him of being a great painter.

One does not have to remember everything one reads. Apart from the useful tips one can also try to remember by forming an acronym Policy, from the topics one wants to remember. For example early on I developed the word POLICE to remember Policy,Organisation,, Leadership, Initiative,Control, Excellence when required to lecture on organisation and leadership topic.

True. unless one is conversant with English language spelling demons are bound to creep in When I was working in Vizag Steel plant, I worked under an efficient Manager, But he was a drunkard. Once he took to a press where I'm supposed to do proof reading for our House Magazine. He left me in the press and gone out to a nearby Bar. By the time, he returned back, I completed my Proof reading. But he said he wanted to see my proof read copy. I was astonished to see he picked many spelling Mistakes even in that inebriated stage. It goes without saying he has a good command over English.
