Thank you Swetha for this posting. It may be that many from North India may not be knowing about this legendary character Manorama. But in South India Manorama is a household name. She has mastered the art of acting in all genres of Film craft. True she is one of the best comedienne for which she won a great recognition by the Guinness Book of Records.

Dear Usha, (ji)
I forgot to ask you, was this a love marriage or arranged marriage?
I have personally seen in the cases of two of my friends, their arranged marriaged ended in legal separation citing ego clashes and differences, just not even more than 3 months after wedlock
my cousins's status is divorcee at the age of 32 which were unheard of years ago especially in India, that too the cousin is a lawyer by profession!!!
I donot know if this is a new trend catching up! (of getting separated at young ages between 28- 35)

@ Rambabu,,,it is always the petty issues that become major issues in a marriage ! Just out of curiosity, why don't you get you fix your breakfast yourself and let your wife chat to her hearts content ?
The lady seems to have reached the breaking point now and there is no use going back. I think if her daughter understands and supports her decision, she should just get out of the wedlock and start her life anew. NO point in sticking around if she has suffered the brunt of her husband's egotistical and unyielding attitude.
I guess they have hurt each other to a point of no return...The husband's stand is unclear but form her side when she consulted a divorce lawyer, a lady , she did not give her much hope if she were to file for a divorce, because there are so many minute angles and how the judge views them especially after the other side presents the case can never be predicted !

All along the discussion, you held the opinion that the very core of democracy is secularism. And this vital aspect has been twisted and mutilated by those intolerant leaders who do not have belief in secularism. Then how come as per you a country like Pakistan sans secularism can become a Model for future India ?

@Chinmoy let me assure you I am not an admirer of Mayawati. That is the mistake you made from my first post on this issue. I am stating that what others have done and flourished when she got an opportunity she did the same. Survival in Indian politics needs a warchest howsoever one creates it. Without one, will end up like Anna Hazare. Used and discarded. So the reality has to be accepted and a way found out of it if possible. Thank you for calling me a loose canon which is any day better than a bound canon. Freedom to fire is there. What more does one want in a forum. I am sorry if my firing has injured you. That never was and never can be the intention.

Agreed. Every one is eligible here to become a leader. And it is due to this reason Secularism has taken a back seat. But, I do not understand in what way Pakistan has become the Model for future India. We all know that Pakistan has neither Democracy nor secularism. Hatred against India is the sole motto of Pakistan.

Centuries old suppression of Dalits is sought to be dismissed in verbose maze. Any movement needs money to see it through. Even Vivekananda needed finances provided by many kings etc which saw him achieve what he set to. Gandhiji and leaders like JP Narayan were liberally financed by Birla and Bajaj while fighting for India's freedom movement. Today's political parties are also financed by many dubious ad clever means. The TMC in Bengal was getting funds allegedly from the chit fund scam. But if a Dalit leader with no financial backing makes it big and then like other political parties builds a warchest exactly like they do she becomes a highly corrupt leader for @Chinmoy. Ambedkar wanted Dalits to embrace Buddhism but Gandhi cleverly foiled the plan and Dalits are paying a price for it. So before throwing a stone at the Dalits corruption please look at the massive corruption by non dalits in India including Bengal. It is mighty naïve and shows lack of reality to expect Dalit leaders to be honest when merrily non dalit leaders have looted the country for centuries including taking bribes from East India Company which made India come under a trading companies rule. Yes corruption should not be there but why singularly blame the leader of a particular community only/

True. Divorces can be made fast if both the parties agree. But, if both are particular in sticking to their points, the case prolongs for an indefinite period.
But about alimony, there are different aspects , the court takes into consideration. In certain cases spouses often fail to come to any understanding regarding Alimony. In such cases the court takes up the task of making a decision on the amount of Alimony to be paid.

So centuries of wrongs would be righted by centuries of wrongs? A very erudite piece of cerebral and celebrated thought! ! The dalit people have seen and known tallest leaders amongst them who never got infected by this incurable megalomania of giving stony forms in their lifetimes. And the one who set in this trend was Karunanidhi and look at his plight today and Mayawati ?
Her own people have booted her out of power and let us see how long her political wilderness lasts. Some people could be extraordinarily naive and clever by half in obfuscating history to preach their undigested line of thought. The same set of people who lambast RSS and BJP for evoking historical wrongs done on Hindus by Muslims would strangely take refuge behind history. My simple point was why public money was put to Tuglakhi uses to promote someone's fad and whims but the anger was the answer. All sound and fury!!!!

I don't think becoming a Hindu rashtra is such a bad thing...At least rules and regulations would be in black and white and it does not essentially mean that others have no right but we may have more straight forward rules than the highly confusing and manipulative ones that we have now,,However, if the majority wishes for such a step , it may come to that if civil rights are not trampled !
