That's entirely a different issue but if 'Run for Unity' is observed properly then it is a good beginning. See, there are negative issues taking place in our country but just for those negativity we should stop appreciating the good gestures is not right.

Yes, In movies and serials Karwa Chauth is very popular. The whole sequence looks very attractive.

Definitely earth looks beautiful at both these times - Early mornings and during sunset. Dawn gives us new hopes and freshness of a day while dusk gives a promise to return back next day. Evenings give us time to give away our burdens........Which one is more beautiful? Or Which you like most?

While most of us do not like monotony in our daily lives, it is also true that we like and enjoy some daily routines that we are accustomed to, day after day.In fact if for some reason we are unable to go through with it , we feel that we have missed out on something important...My father would always visit a neighbor and a friend , who was a school teacher , after work each evening and when we would ask him about it and he would tell us that both of them enjoyed the little time they spent together...this continued until the teacher retired and he and his family left for their native village !  In my own case it is the simple pleasure of going up to the terrace and spending time with my plants before starting my day.If for some reason I miss this routine I feel restless ..

Personally i too prefer to invest in land because of the long term benefit and the option of having a garden and the freedom to build as one pleases

If Khuswant Singh was an atheist that why he was used turben and like a Sikh.           Kushwant Singh was a very complex personality and it is difficult to gauge whether he is a believer or an atheist. In his book Agnostic Khushwant : There is no God, he actually questions whether belief or no belief in god is everything or does it define the characteristics of an individual?

That is because Modi is telling them that Bihari leaders can not develop Bihar, therefore they are retorting by saying Modi is a bahari in Bihar not in India.

But who want to set in India should be said with proud, I am Indian.    I am sure all Indians would say They are Indians with a lot of pride but Pakistanis coming to stay here, earn here and get some benefit will not say so and cannot be expected to say so.. The age old athithi devobava has become passe now and it is the story of camel and the tent , that is prevalent now. What is happening in Bihar, leaders of Bihar are saying that we are Behari and modi is bahri.   If it happens in other states one can imagine the chaos it would cause ! Jayalalitha the CM of Tamilnadu is originally from Karnataka and I am sure there are at least a few such people who have migrated to other states and become active in politics there ..

@RAMAKRISHNAN. A You were lucky that your chosen profession and your parents choice was the same...In many cases children are forced to choose a career choice against their wishes and there have been many cases where teenagers give up half way through !

Bengalis also do not have this festival. I first learnt about this festival from Hindi films and now in Delhi I get to see married women celebrating the festival. Ladies very keenly dress up on this day.     I too know about this festival through hindi films where it is romanticised ..In a film called Shaan, which was shown recently on the TV, the wife played by Rakhee is getting ready to celebrate the festival with her husband ( Sunil Dutt)  and hears the news that he has been killed...This is a blog written by twinkle Khanna on Karva Chaut ,who incidentally  has become a very humorous writer.. http://www.bollywoodlife.com/news-gossip/twinkle-khanna-shares-her-karva-chauth-experience/  In these day most of TV channel are showing karva Choth in their serials.

We are confused. Just consider that RSS is the holding company whereas VHP, Bajarang Dal and other saffron extremist elements are subsidiary. Position is clear. They have common agenda. They speak in different voices only to confuse us.  Most of parties have subsidiary like VHP and Bajarang Dal.

suni51 wrote: @Vijai it has nothing to do with the thread though but don't you think it's a good sign that you do not know who is supreme unlike in congress party where everyone has to touch feet of its dictator. However, the run for unity program is run for unity, why try to find out faults in that? I think here is no need do discuss other problems of country. Let us no more about Sardar Patel and his contribution for the nation.

usha manohar wrote: Honestly I did not know this...I knew that today was the death anniversary of Indira Gandhi since no one could forget all the confusion and problems that followed for common people .Our city was forcibly shut down for 5 days and people had no milk supply, vegetables or transportation and no hospitals were allowed to function.. I was not aware that Sardar Patel was born on the same day ! You are suffering much.  I have not any experience of shut down. It may deed of political party. Sardar Patel merged more than 500 hundred states in India after Independence.

Shampa Sadhya said thank you to vijay for his/her reply to the topic Choice of profession.
If a new member has felt hurt let us assuage it rather than be technical like some political party spokespersons when cornered in TV debates. Humility is a virtue though becoming scarce.
