If a language has vast treasury of important information which one needs to refer to in various fields, most common of which is Ayurveda, then it is very much in use and can not be dismissed as dead. The alkaloids derived from those medicinal plants mentioned in the vedas are used in various modern day allopathic medicines as well, in addition to ayurvedic and homeopathic medicines. With increasing chronic aliments of modern day, various medical practitioners are referring to those scriptures. And what about vedic sciences ? Are they too lifeless ? If not, how does one make use of them without the use of Sanskrit ? I wonder if even the Ayurvedic doctors know or use Sanskrit. I also wonder whether medium of instruction for Ayurveda is Sanskrit. No doubt Sanskrit is rich language but very few people know this and hardly anyone uses. Hence this is extinct beyond doubt.    If the Ayurvedic doctors don't use Sanskrit, how do they decipher the text ? Here's a link to the syllabus for BAMS ( Bachelor of Aryurvedic Medicine and Surgery) It does include Sanskrit and the age old Charaka Samhita    https://targetstudy.com/courses/bams.html Sanskrit student can join BAMS. It is not compulsory that a student of medical ground can join BAMS. In BAMS knowledge of Sanskrit is compulsory. In 1st year BAMS Sanskrit is a subject.   I wonder even after seeing the valuable inputs from our esteemed members say that Sanskrit is extinct and a dead language. Sanskrit will never become extinct.

History is best left to the historians. Though it does not call for any authoritative command to see the weirdness of the claim that he was freedom fighter! What is required is plain application of minds free from prejudice and narrowness. Tipu was a 18th century figure and none thought of freedom even the Indian National Congress and its leaders were apologetic about full-fledged demand for independence in the initial decades.Dabblers at history are better advised from preaching their home-spun theories!!

Noise pollution causes Hyper tension, high stress levels, tinnitus etc. I have tinnitus right now. The noise stays all along. This unbearable noise makes me mad. This was caused years ago when I was working in the Metallurgical department where i'm supposed to conduct a test on metals which produce high decibel  noise.

vijay wrote: Agreed. What I meant was that people of the elderly age group are much familiar with desktops and changing over to smartphone is a matter of adjustment which many find difficult. I myself took to smartphone after a fairly long time as I was comfortable with desktop/laptops. But yes there are many in this age group who are smartphone savy like you are. Best wishes. The belief that elders cannot adjust with the new generation gadgets like Smart phones, I pads etc is wrong. I use all kinds of latest gadgets ranging from Laptops to I pads. But I do not use Smart phones for the reason that they are useless when it comes to Digital painting.Digital painting is possible only with Desktop models.

Criticizing others is the cheapest way to keep these politicians in the limelight. Especially those parties who lost their addresses in the last elections go to any extent to stage a comeback. It takes several decades to mend the political sacrileges committed by the oldest party of India.

Right now there is no shop visible, but you never know if the congress becomes junior partner in certain pvt.ltd enterprises in a state or two. Politics is not about short term gain but people with long term aims win the game     Congress is yet the main party on all India basis. In big states like Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, Congress is the main opposition. In case BJP loses in these states, Congress is the likely gainer. In such situation, Congress will gain some seats everywhere and emerge as largest party in center and form UPA. No wonder many current allies of BJP will then be in hurry to join UPA.  Basically, Congress and BJP are similar, the only difference being communal content in the saffron party.  It is a known fact, how the Indian National Congress's communal attitude is. Its learned president Sonia claims that the Congress party always fought against communalism. There have been times when this oldest party of India looked the other way. Anti Sikh programmes,  is just an example. Seeing this, many critics go up to the extent of saying INC is more communal than the BJP.

Living in the present is the best bet to avoid depression. Indulging in an activity will divert your attention. And this is the best remedy for depression.

Gulshan Kumar Ajmani wrote:   I am also not a student of history. So it will be inappropriate to say anything authoritatively. However, it is undisputed that Tipu sultan fought against British and was killed inaction. So he is early freedom fighter. No ruler can satisfy all people. There can be some sections/ community hostile to Tipu sultan. It also transpires that Maratha and some other Hindu kings sided with British against Tipu sultan. Apparently, for them it was more important to fight Tipu sultan rather than British. Are those who supported British patriot or traitor. It is also learnt that still there are many temples in the  palace/ fort of Tipu sultan. so it appears that the allegation of destroying temples is baseless. It is also seen that Tipu sultan annoyed Hindu Brahmans and upper castes who did not allow low caste Hindu women to wear bra or blouse. They were so lecherous that they considered it their right to watch nude breasts/ nipples of lower caste women. Tipu sultan interfered so that the low caste women could live with dignity and wear blouse. This practice of low caste women moving topless was also in Travancore Kerala. This was stopped by British government. These facts have been reported by some friends on Facebook with authentic images and complete details. However it appears that the state government has bot dealt with the law and order issue properly.          Someone rightly tweeted " The first thief ( Tipu) enters your house ,enslaves you and when the second thief  ( British) enters the house with the same purpose , the first thief fights him for his own survival and dies at the hands of the second thief ! So do we call the first thief a patriot ??? Amusing that some people are ready to go to any length to twist facts and write their own version of history ! All that is written about Brahmins peeping at womens intimate parts of the body is hogwash written by someone ( probably a Dalit writer to defame Brahmins and Upper Caste people ) with a very dirty and fertile imagination. In Kerala and parts of Konkan coast women from old traditional families regardless of caste still do not wear blouse while at home.earlier this was in practice , mainly because of the weather.Woen wore sarees tied tightly around their bosom and left one side of their shoulder bare. British did try to stop this practice but not very successfully since it is still very much in practice in villages ..So if a Brahmin could peep at low caste women so could low caste man peep at a High caste woman ! As far as Tipus so called secular views , the temples that are remaining afer his misrule have all been restored and one temple he did not destroy was Sri Ranganath Temple at Sri Ranga Patna where the temple priest cleverly manipulated him by pretending to read his horroscope , because Tipu wanted to conquer the entire Indian sub continent and become an emperor ! This is a well known fact told by the guides and temple priests at Sri Ranga Patna from where he ruled ! As far as Siddaramaiah is concerned, he is a short sighted leader only interested in power and  he is totally unfit to be a MLA , let alone be a CM,,,

Depression is a state of mind that affects all people t some time or the other regardless of age ! We all feel depressed at times but this is also a temporary feeling that goes away with time and changed circumstances. There are some older people who feel depressed because of reduced physical strength and increased ailments especially when they have led an active life before. It again depends on their own ability to tackle it and not become negative. This is where group activities help. Sometime back I visited an old age home run by a Christian organisation in Bangalore and spent a lot of time , interacting with the people there. Some were single and three were a few couples too. They all seemed very happy and contented living there although they had many personal problems, which in fact had brought them there .The reason was being together in a group and making friends and sharing their feelings with each other and taking part in group activities. They felt useful being there since they all voluntarily took up some activities on a rota basis. The whole place looked clean, well kept and well looked after !

Congress was no doubt a grand old party but after the change in leadership, it is doubtful whether it would ever rise to half its past glory in the distant future ! In Madhya Pradesh, as of now it has 58 seats ( BJP has in the Vidhan Sabha and 2 in the Rajya Sabha...In Rajasthan it has 21 seats ( BJP has 163) and 0 in the Rajya Sabha ( BJP has all 25)...so what gain are they looking for ? Of course one can make many Arithmatic calculations to suit ones wish but whether it would come true is another matter ..Congress being the most communal party, it will not be able to fool people now by pointing fingers at others !

In old age depression strikes especially because many of them have no one around them to talk to and no one to understand them. Another point is when elderly people are not at all ready to adjust with the situation and also with the younger generation then it leads them to depression. Usually, younger generation is blamed for not giving time and they live their life according to their choice but I feel that's an injustice made to the young ones. Every generation needs to understand each other. Expecting the young ones to sacrifice everything then it is asking for too much. Depression caused by ailment is different but caused due to lack of understanding and ego hassle is very problematic to deal with.

The worst part is we are not at all patient and do not want to give much time to the new government to push the country forward. We are interested in criticising every move and disinterested in giving the ruling party some time to work properly. We should not expect wonders to happen in such a short span of time.
