Political mood of people is completely dynamic element and the way it should tilt no one could ever predict. It is the experience in political field that should matters and even successful political persons lose miserably. What it surprises the most emergence of RJD as number one party in Bihar even toppling Nitish Kumar.
Public memory is short and people forget quickly even when it is a person like Lalu who sweet talked like a comedian and drained the Bihar economy through his stupidity and greed ! It is also because of the public who are mostly uneducated and ill informed when it comes to their own rights and Lalu has manipulated this to the maximum extent.I also blame BJP for a campaign that was definitely not helping them. They should have learnt a few lessons in public manipulation from Lalu and Nitish , although Nitish Kumar is a good leader and along with BJP did a good job in Bihar. But now with Lalu and RJD, One can never be sure

Of course families benefit and have benefited when someone gives up their subsidy. The gas dealers can give more connections to people falling below a certain income level , through their ration cards. This is what the Indane dealer told me and they have already given connections to 123 people, directly depending on the number of people who give up. It is not free but those who give up subsidy are helping people who are poorer than them to have the benefit at a reduced rate..

The very fact that all other senior members of Lalu's party have been overlooked to make an apparently stupid son of Lalu shows what one can expect in the days to come . It will be like old times when Lalu was in his element controlling the Jungle Raj as he wanted and wished .
Sagarika Ghose's blog is very apt on the Bihar situation

I dont think we can hope for a doomsday so quickly because there are many factors involved , more importantly the unknown funding they get from Saudi Arabia and other countries, what can allies do about that ? US funding is just a fraction ...Similarly there are many nations in the Middle Est and South East Asia, who openly support ISIS , so they may give support to them if it becomes an open war !

I can understand. The newbies should be given the chance. That's why, the Governor did not reprimand the member. He simply asked the member to retake the oath after necessary correction.

I don't see any scheme that can provide a free gas connection to poor or needy against the given up subsidy by influential ones. After all as per the claims lacks of people have already 'given it up' but is there a single household that benefited from this scheme? Why not the government makes the scheme more clear for people to understand it or bring all Income Tax payers under the 'NO Subsidy' scheme? Or why is there a need for subsidy for anyone if he wishes to use a facility? Let the market take its course without offering such facilities by one hand and asking for 'give up' at the same time.
It's a populist scheme to win over the electorate. I remember some member pointed out rightly that all these populist schemes will disappear once a new government comes in. That's why I feel its good for for the people to get accustomed with non subsidized gas facilities. Say, if it is fore thought or any thing, I stopped using subsidized gas long ago.

The newbies should be allotted even more time as they have to make the things right which they inherited from their ancestors but the ones already in power for decades will not digest it and will demand correction from day 1. Ultimately they are agreeing to the fact that there was much to be done.

True. In Bihar if such politicians came into power, reason is uneducated electorate. I feel it's the electorate to be educated first. Most of the ministers came from the Lalu's family. One of his son during swearing in ceremony could not read it properly and the governor had to ask him to repeat the oath twice.

These politicians are spending huge money to celebrate their birthday's but not even bother for farmers. U.P. is declared as drought state this year but instead spending money on farmers, Mulayam is spending money on his own. Public is also responsible for such kind of people in power. We recently what has happened in Bihar. A 9th fail person has become the deputy C.M. of the state.
