Politics is broadly divided as Left and Right. How you decide whether you are Left, Right or Centrist. Here is a way.  Here is a chart depending on your views on mythology.  As I don't have any faith in mythology, which means only 'myth (untrue) , I can't decide whether I am Left  or Right.

I guess the Times of India reporters do not know that alimony is given only to spouses and not parents! Alimony, support, maintenance, call it whatever you like, it amounts to the same thing and that is 'to provide financial support to the ones who are left holding the wrong end of the stick.' So what problem is there if 'alimony' is paid to parents instead of support? http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Old-parents-can-get-alimony-too/articleshow/611401.cms

The girl's side must not give dowry in any circumstance because the men who accept dowry in marriage are not worthy to get married. Now, comes the question of alimony, regarding it I will second @usha manohar's opinion but with a minor twist. I would prefer ladies not to accept alimony from their husband with whom their relationship has gone sour and by doing so their self respect will rise. Yes, there are some circumstances when the divorced ladies are left with no choice and are willingly/unwillingly have to accept alimony. On the other hand I am against those ladies who file false cases to harass the husband and the in-laws. They in no way deserve alimony but if their is a child in between then certainly the man as a father has a responsibility towards his child so for his/her sake one must take care of the child's need such as education and all other requirements. Like I said before it is not at all an easy matter to get alimony because family courts deliberate and after a lot of considerations think of granting alimony, so there is no question of any false case being encouraged by the court , which is as it is , is prejudiced against women ! It seems you got me a little wrong. I did not mean that court will encourage false case for alimony. I was talking about the fake domestic violence cases filed by the wives and when it gets proved that the wife's accusation was false then in that case divorce should be granted to the husband and alimony should not be given to her. That should be her punishment for ruining an entire family only because of her selfish desire.  I am agree with you if some one file false case against husband than after divorce wife have not any right of alimony but she must be punished for defamation of husband. Only hard punishment can stop misuse of any law. Exactly, this is what I want to say. Be it a man or a woman, no one has the right to defame another family and ruin their lives. Kill one and get away with it. Yes, I know that in India women are mainly the sufferers of bad marriage and I have all my feelings with them but I am not with those women who misuse the law and spoil some innocent lives and vice versa. I have seen many cases like this and I can't accept and forgive people of this kind so I want them to be punished be it a man or a woman.

Hopeless non alliance group! Nehru was a idealist and thus never understood power politics and famous Mao quote ' power comes out of a barrel of a gun'. He had a chance to be greatest leader in Asia but in ultimate analysis flunked. Why we cannot forget Nehru because he saddled India for ever with kashmir problem and lost territory to China. He reduced India to a second rate power. Hero worship of Nehru must stop as he left problems for Indians that can never be solved for next 100 years.

Christian families too tended to be very large although , now they are aware of the practical difficulties of having too many children and have consciously been bringing down the size of their families which is a good size...The educated muslims too have realised the advantage small family gives them but it is a different matter in villages and in uneducated families True Usha, more and more educated families now realize the importance of having less children and are doing so of their own will, but still even in cities there are many families who are educated but still refuse to adopt control measures. I closely now a family where he daughter's first born son was diagnosed with a congenital heart valve, instead of focusing on his treatment, her in-laws forced her to have two more sons, in  addition to first 2 sons and a daughter, and now with 5 children, he has been sent back to her parents. Her father is a retired engineer from MES and all these people are well educated. But her in-laws won't accept her back saying she has a curse on her head just because of the first born son's condition. Not to mention, the family is Muslim! Yes it is still not 100% ...My sister who is a gynecologist goes to villages with their mobile unit and there have been times when they have been threatened and abused by muslim men because their wives were advised on family planning by the doctors..They had to lodge a police complaint once because these men would not let them work in the village which comprises of all religious groups .. India is big country and 100% is not possible. Hindus are serious about size of family even in rural area. They understand that more children, more pieces of their lands. Gradully Muslim will also understand this fact that small family in favor of them and their children.   I agree with you. I also agree with Usha and Kalyani on the importance of smaller families. What I think is a change in attitude of the people started. As you said, because of the vastness of the country, the small change will not look conspicuously. The much needed Small Family norm will take time, though not immediately, . I have seen , this change of attitude is visible even in orthodox Muslim families. Yes it will take time, government is also doing enough in this field. Cash awards for sterilization is effective one.

Then "UNUSUAL is the headline of the thread.Isn't it ....   According to law, license for flying kite is necessary. But the law is inoperative practically and nobody knows this. Possibly, there is no authority to whom you may apply for flying kites. In fact, there are thousands of such legal provisions that neither the citizens nor police are aware of.  One day, I came across a book that is a compilation of various legislation. Most of these are obsolete and not commonly known even to advocates and judiciary But I thing for law students it is must to read these obsolete laws.

Alimony is given by spouses to each other as the case may be by court orders. Children are ordered to provide support to their neglected parents and it is not called alimony.

Bureaucrats are helpless to obey illegal orders of politicians. Bureaucrats are also human beings and have their families. You may know about IAS Khemka of Haryana, how he was torcher by politicians. Average transfer after six months!   Not many want to go through that so they end up being politicians chelas...In Karnataka, yesterday the power minister D K Shivakumar who is a known corrupt goonda with many charges pending against him, got angry because a trader from Sulia close to Mangalore called him directly to know about the power situation. The trader apparently called him many times because the minister kept cutting his calls instead of listening to him, finally the trader was put in jail on harrassment charges against the minister. This is the kind of politicians that India has been breeding over the decades.. yes most are like it, but here hope of rays also we have, "Suresh Prabhu"
