Jawaharlal Nehru was India's first prime minister. In a way, he was the most important man in Indian history after independence as he was to lead India forward after 1100 years of rule by foreigners.India had almost 900 years of Muslim rule  followed by 200 years of British rule. Thus, when India was freed by the English after their parliament approved the Indian Independence Act a lot depended on Nehru to lead India forward.  There is no denying that Nehru was very much loved by the Indian people and he had a charismatic personality. He never went anywhere with bodyguards as he mingled with the common people. He was chosen by Gandhi as the heir to lead India, bypassing strong nationalist leaders like Sardar Patel. Nehru thus had everything going for him and when he spoke in the Indian parliament on the midnight of independence, one assumed that Nehru would lead India forward. One expected that the ills of a thousand years would be attended to and India would emerge as the greatest power in Asia. However, after five decades of his death, we have to sadly conclude that Nehru had feet of clay and he dissipated the love of the Indian people and left India with insurmountable problems. Some of his decisions strike at the roots of a united India and woe betide that his policy does not lead to another division of India. Nehru was a well-meaning person, but one can say he was more the philosopher than the leader. Listening to the speeches of Nehru now broadcast sometimes on All India Radio, one can see that he was a deep thinker. But thinkers do not make good political leaders and now many conclude that Nehru has because of his naivety and flawed thinking left India with problems that defy a solution. Maybe it had something to do with Hinduism in general and the age old complacency of the Hindus and what is popularly called the " inertia of the East" may have a clue to the thinking of Nehru. Nehru's blunders are all recounted by historians like Vincent Sheen, Leonard Mosley and also by politicians like Jaswant Singh and Maulana Azad. The magnitude of the blunders awes all Indians and people of the world. He lost 30,000 square miles of Indian territory to China and India had to wash its hands of entire Aksai Chin. In addition, his supine policy on Tibet led to the enslavement of Tibet and destruction of Tibetan culture. Worse it destroyed a buffer with China. The result is that now China is in a strong position militarily in Tibet and India has one hand tied behind its back. China also claims the entire Arunachal Pradesh  and does not recognize Kashmir and Arunachal Pradesh as parts of India. So much so that visas to Indian citizens from these areas are stapled and not printed on passports and the Indian leadership in mortal fear of China accepts it. Who created this fear psychosis of China? The needle of suspicion points to Nehru who never realized the obvious as stated by Mao Tse Tung that " political power comes out of the barrel of a gun". Nehru neglected the army as he feared a military coup like in Burma and Pakistan. This had disastrous consequences as India was defeated by China and the Indians could not even beat Pakistan decisively  in the west, despite Pakistan being 1/5th the size of India. Nehru created the Kashmir problem and in 1948  took India's case to the UN. One wonders who advised Nehru on this sad decision as the Indian army had cleared the valley and was advancing towards Gilgit in POK. In addition, his philosophical mind took over and he promised a plebiscite in Kashmir and choice to join Pakistan. He also brought in amendments to the Indian constitution that gave a special status to Kashmir and the result is there for all to see.  He refused Indian citizens from other parts of India to settle  in Kashmir and even disallowed refugees thrown out of Pakistan in1947 riots to enter Kashmir. He thus ensured a Muslim majority Valley and the majority is now a thorn as India faces a full-fledged insurrection with daily attacks on Indian security forces. This insurrection is on for 25 years and all have seen that it is growing in strength. The armed struggle is not only in Kashmir but in the central lands of India and the North East States where the Naga revolt commenced in 1955.Nehru failed in uplifting and opening Central India and the North East, concentrating on grandiose plants like steel plants and neglecting agriculture.  This has been a terrible mistake by Nehru and now as per WHO reports the number of Indian below the poverty line are the greatest in number than anywhere in the world. The number of poor has increased and the disparity between rich and poor aggravated. Who is responsible if not Nehru? I recollect that things had become so bad in 1991 that India had to pawn its gold reserves to meet international obligations. Nehru also brought in the concept of linguist states. Historians can tell us that India was never divided at any time in history on linguistic lines. Yet Nehru divided India into linguistic lines and sowed the seeds of sectarianism. We have organizations like the Shiv Sena and others that perpetually talk of a sectarian India. Probably Nehru never realized that he was opening the genie from the bottle. Nehru also divided the nation on the basis of religion. He got the Hindu marriage act passed but allowed Muslim to practice the Sharia. as well as have their own sectarian schools. He failed to regulate the Madrasas or supervise them and thus created mini Pakistan everywhere. The situation is now so bad that the Muslim law board has even challenged the decisions and authority of the Supreme Court of India  to adjudicate on any aspect of the Sharia. Again the root of the problem can be traced to Nehru. I wonder why he never took a leaf out of the book of Kemal Mustapha who abolished the Sharia and Islamic schools at one stroke in Turkey, a hundred years back. Nehru has a lot to answer to history. He in sum total has left behind seeds for further disintegration of India in the years to come and problems like Kashmir and China as well as the North East States which defy solution. Nehru was thus a man with feet of clay and he squandered the love of the Indian people. In hindsight, he may be remembered  as the man who sowed the seeds of destruction of the Indian state. Not a happy legacy

There is a 1960 movie titled " Girl on a Motorcycle". This movie hit the screen before I was born, but I had a chance to witness it in a re-run in the eighties. It's a beautiful movie starring the English actress Marianne Faithfull( born 1946).She looks lovely in this movie and I remember seeing the movie in a morning run in Madras at Blue Diamond. The movie has the tag of a 'cult' movie and is considered an all time classic. The story delineates the love of a girl for a motorbike. It has some breathtaking shots of Marianne riding the bike on the roads of Europe. she rides her bike from Germany to France for a secret tryst with her lover played by Alan Delon( Sadly , I think he is no more). I recollect I saw the movie 3 times and now have it as part of my collection. The movie brought in the revolutionary concept of a girl riding a monster bike, which at that time was almost taboo for women. She rides a Triumph, a 7500 cc motorbike. her love for the bike transcends everything and in the end carried away by her exuberance, the girl is killed in a motorbike accident on the highway. That is the end of the movie. Reel life and real life can sometimes have an uncanny similarity. Recently when I read that an Indian girl named  Veenu Paliwal from Jaipur was killed in a motorcycle accident at Vidisha in Madhya Pradesh riding a Harley- Davidson, I was shocked.Veenu died just a few days back. She was 44 and her love for motorcycles towered over everything else. She is the Indian " girl on a motorcycle" and her life has a remarkable similarity to the role of Marianne Faithfull in the French movie.Such similarity must be a coincidence, yet one cannot help feeling that the mystery of life remains unresolved. Veenu Paliwal was born in 1972. she credits her love for motorcycles to her father who had a Royal Enfield. I also as a bachelor drove a 500cc Royal Enfield and riding that bike remains my cherished thought. Veenu Paliwal did something which in conservative India is frowned upon. She started riding bikes and soon graduated to riding a Harley-Davidson. The company was indebted to Veenu for the publicity and made her their brand ambassador. Veenu relished this role of brand ambassador  and rode the Harley Davidson all over India. I understand she drove the bike from Jaipur to Bombay a distance of 1200 km in one day. She also touched speeds of 180 km an hour and I suppose she must be the only woman in Asia to have driven a bike at this speed. Veenu's love for bikes transcended everything. She married but the marriage ended in divorce as her husband was not in favor of Veenu riding bikes. In Jaipur, she was a permanent fixture and people referred to her as the Harley Davidson girl. The Harley-Davidson is a powerful bike and comes with massive engines ranging from 600 cc to 1200 cc; almost more than the power of a car. it is a credit to Veenu that she handled this powerful bike. her divorce did not deter her and she continued riding bikes all over India. She was commissioned by the Harley-Davidson company to drive the bike from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and in the process visit all the Harley Davidson showrooms and dealers on the way. It was a challenging task but Vennu accepted it with gusto. She was riding with another man companion who was on another bike when at a sharp turning on the highway her bike skidded and she was flung from the bike. She was rushed to a health center but died there. Later doctors discovered that she had suffered an internal injury and her liver had been ruptured. it was a sad end to a woman who had blazed a forbidden trail in a conservative country like India. She was a role model to other girls who were inspired by her and took to riding motorbikes. Her death has shocked all sports enthusiasts. She leaves behind two children from her broken marriage, a son, and daughter. When in Jaipur Veenu ran a hip tea house called Chai Pani and it was a hit with the Avante Guard and the mod crowd.   Veenu Paliwal has left an indelible mark on the Indian social scene, where women and girls are still discriminated against. In a nation that still practices female infanticide and hiding women in a burka( Like the Muslims), Veenu is like a breath of fresh air. She should be an example to all Indians. I have driven a Harley- Davidson. It's a heavy bike and putting it on a stand requires effort. Handling raw power of nearly 70-80 BHP requires great acumen. All credit to Veenu Paliwal for this. Sadly her death at the age of 44 is a matter of great shock. After her death, I again saw the movie of Marianne Faithfull and the uncanny similarity was a matter of surprise to me. One can only conclude that sometimes real life duplicates what is a fantasy. All Indians must be proud of her

Introduction  Now a day shortage of water is mainly the most common problem which almost every state has, but it is very common in villages. As we all know that water is very much essential to live. The shortage of water or we can say the crises of water in India is really a big problem which is almost as big as life of a human being. Yeah if the water is very much essential in living then it can be said like this also that it can takes one’s life if it is not available, and now at the present in India it is taking life of many people mostly the people who are farmers, who are not getting water to grow their crops and they are very depressed because of the present situation of the village where there is no water.  Water scarcity in villages Mainly in India most of the villages does not have sufficient water to grow their crops, so there is a shortage of water in the agricultural field. And sometime in the summer season there is a vast problem rises to the farmer or the people living in the local area, and that problem is the problem of drinking water because in the summer season most of the pond and well water soaks up and only mud is left behind as the mark indicating that the water was left for sometime there. We all know that in the villages there is no municipality pipeline or any kind of water facility, if there is something then it is definitely natural resources in the form of small pond and well. Recently we are hearing about water problems in latur which is in Maharashtra. The drought is such a problem which forces the farmer to do suicide, yes we all known that it is the wrong decision which the farmers in India are making but we all know that why they are doing all these, they are doing in the hope that after their death, government will credit some amount to their family and from which their family will get to eat some food for 2-3 months. It’s very hard to accept that country real heroes are committing suicide. Now a day climate is changing so fast that one cannot percept which season is this, because now a day we often see a state facing drought and on the other side we are seeing a state full of water, I mean a state is facing flood, one side there is no water and one side there is lots of water. Now a day even a scientist are confused.  Water scarcity in city  Mostly in cities water scarcity problems does not occur often, very few times in a year it happens but mostly it does not happens, it is because there are artificial way of giving water to the society or to the area in the city. There is a separate water department which are organised to supply water twice a day. Cities are developed and that’s why there is no problem for water, and if it happens then it happens because of some evil officials who don’t do their job perfectly. Many dams are there, and many scientific way of collecting rain water and natural sources of water, so there is no problem for water scarcity in city. Many of us think that there is scarcity of water in cities also, but our thinking is wrong, there is no shortage of water in city and when sometimes when we don’t get water then it is only just because of some problem which usually occurs in the form bad pipeline. And to exchange that bad water pipeline it almost takes 2-3 days and those 2-3 days we don’t get water. So I think there is no problem of shortage of water or any sort of a thing from which we can say that we are having scarcity of water in the city. Villages and city water scarcity   Well if we compare city water scarcity and villages water scarcity, then I think there is no comparison between them because village water scarcity is very much vast and painful and whereas about city water scarcity, yeah in this also people are get into problem but not as much as the people in villages has to face. In city sometimes when there is no water available in our house and we can do one more thing to get water is that by buying the water from the store but in villages it’s not like that, we don’t get water in the store and if the water is available to the small shop in the villages then I think it would be very much difficult to the villagers to buy because as we know that most of the villagers are poor and they cannot afford to buy costly things. We also know that the lifestyle of the villagers are too cheap as they don’t wear, eat costly things and the water which they drink are not safe too because the water which they got are dirty and unsafe for human being. The city water scarcity in comparison to the village water scarcity is not so high and lethal. As we know that in most of the villages just because of the water scarcity, the farmer are not getting enough water to grow their crops and which are making them to commit suicide whereas in city nobody commit suicide for water. In villages the water scarcity is not only the scarcity it is much more than that it becomes the scarcity of life. Death because of water scarcity  We have heard about the death which is caused due to shortage of money or financial problem but I think very few times in our life we heard about the death which is committed due to shortage of water mostly there are poor people who are involved in this because water shortage is mostly the problem of villages. Now the death because of water shortage is become a fashion in India, I think the death which are committed due to shortage of water will have two reason behind it one is, it can be a government failure to fulfilled the villagers hopes or the second one which is the tension and depression caused in the mind of the villagers which forced them to commit suicide which is really a very decision to make. I don’t know why the villagers who commit suicide are so confident that after their death everything will be fine and their family will not face any kind of problem in the near future, why they don’t see the face of their family who wants to stay with him/her. I know only one thing that, yes money and water and any sort of a thing which are necessary to live is really essential and vital for anyone to live in this world but not at the risk of any one’s life, life is a very delicate thing if once gone, it’s gone it will never ever come back again. If the villagers or anyone who wants to die then die but with courage and bravery not like impotent, face the problem, fight with it until you get succeed, if the result comes in your favour then it’s ok and if it doesn’t then fight until you die.  Be an example  Yes be an example, just think if you are tired of everything and nothing is going in your favour and the only thing which is coming in your mind is suicide then just think what are you teaching to your younger or your child. If one commits suicide then he/she is teaching his/her child to commit suicide. And the child will commit suicide in that fashion as his/her parents taught him/her. So I think the parents who are the only look after of any child should teach a lesson on facing problems in life to their child so that they can face the problem of life with bravery and with lots of confidence. As we know that the child will do the same as the parents teach them because the parents are the base of their life and they will learn everything from them first then from others. Now a day many school going child or even the college going students commit suicide as they cannot handle the work and study which they have to do which creates immense pressure in their mind and they commit suicide, as we know that the students are our future, and we should save them to get a good future. Whereas about the water shortage suicide, yes I know that this is not the small problem because the villagers really life is water, yeah because of water they are earning, I mean to say that everything is water for them, and if they don’t get water for 1-2 months they are forced to commit suicide, but committing suicide because of water is really a big deal, if we say that they shouldn’t commit suicide then it is not wrong but what they can also do because the main thing which is helping them to survive in this bad world that is only betraying them.  The government should do  There are five things which the present government should do in order to save the people of the villages from the scarcity of water:-  1) The government should boost the confidence of the poor people who are going through the depression of scarcity of water. 2) The present government should assure the people of the affected area that they will get water in very short time and the government should provide them water in very short time.  3) The government should improve the water facility in the villages through water pipelines spread in the villages. 4) Scientific way of storing water should be introduced in the villages. And  5) the most important thing which the government should do is that they should built dam. Where the dam is urgently needed or where the dam can save the life of lots of life. Necessity of saving the villages  Yeah, as we know that the villages are the real respect of our country and as we know that the most important things which we eat mostly come from the villages. So in order to save the villages, we all should do something which can be done to save the villages, well if we see one side of the villages is that the country GDP depends on the villages. One should know the importance of villages in the country and then only we will come to respect our country villages and will eager to save the villages much more than any other person. Just think the food we get to eat now, if we don’t get then what will happen, we will be worried and feel tasteless to every food which we eat excluding that food which we eat regularly. So the importance of village is very much important more than our thinking. Don’t hate the villagers just because of their attire and style of living because the things which they do nobody can do that.  Conclusion  If there is a problem then there is definitely the solution is available for that problem, so in that manner there is a solution to this drought situation. There are many things which can be done to face scarcity of water, but the only thing is needed is a try and believe that this can be done to face this problem or the crises which is really a big problem. I think many scientific methods should be used to store rain water or the increment of well in the villages should doubled or the hand pump should be available to each and every house in the villages. There are so many things which can be done to face scarcity of water but they are not processed just because of the irregular activities of the minister of present government they focused on money rather on poor people. We all have seen that every government rarely sees to the villages, if we see earlier when the present government was standing to the elections the only things which is very common in any parties manifesto is that they will give a sophisticated life to the villagers but they don’t fulfilled the said things and in the next election they will say again these words and they will forget with ease. I thing if the government has the strong will power to save the people who is facing the scarcity of water in the villages then there is nobody in this world who can stop the government to do this kind of social activities, and why they will not do because whatever the government is today is just because of the poor people who sees hopes in the eyes of the government. How sad to see the hopes which are broken, which was present earlier in the eyes of the villagers. There is another way to store water method which is by teaching and educating the people of the villagers about the essence of storing water and the method which they can use to store water to face the scarcity of water in the near future.

India is a secular democratic republic. Unfortunately, the world secular has not been  properly understood in India and many people including educated Hindus are of the opinion that a secular state means giving free reign to minorities to practice their own laws. Secular only means the right to worship any religion and the state shall have no say in private beliefs and worship. Recently a very learned person commented that imposing a common civil code means trying to convert the Muslims to Islam. Such a comment can only be termed preposterous. This gentleman failed to realize that India is the only country in the world with a dual personal law. No other country be it the Islamic states or the developed states like USA and Europe, not forgetting China and Japan allow a separate civil code for the minorities. Since there is one uniform code does this mean that these nations have enforced the uniform code to convert the minority to Christianity or Buddhism or Confucian? certainly not and sadly people are NOT aware that in India also in the state of GOA there is a uniform civil code. This code which was enforced by the Portuguese has been accepted by all residents including Muslims and the Sharia has taken a back seat. One thing is clear that enforcing a uniform civil code does not mean that the minority will be converted to Hinduism. It means reforming an archaic law and giving rights to Muslim women. The personal law does not mean only marriage and divorce but also covers inheritance and property division.  Muslims in India are governed by the Sharia  in these matters. The Sharia is ancient Muslim Law derived from Muslim scriptures. At one time when it was first propounded, it was a progressive law. It brought in the concept of some rights for women. However over the centuries, this law was not reformed and as it stands it is not in consonance with the  genius of modern men and women. The Sharia sanctifies polygamy and allows a man to have 4 wives and any number of "mutta' or temporary wives. It also has a severe divorce law that allows a man to divorce his wife by just uttering the word Talaq 3 times.Incidentally, this triple talaq is not accepted even in Muslim nations let alone its acceptance in the developed countries and any nation all over the world. People will be surprised to know that even in the UAE where I reside and work, triple talaq is not accepted. In India however encouraged by the Congress party, intent on creating vote banks triple Talaq is valid and the Indian Muslim law board has endorsed it. The Indian Supreme Court is now examining the validity of triple Talaq and we have a bizarre statement by Muslim intellectuals who state that triple talaq and its ramifications cannot be adjudicated by the Supreme Court. I wonder what these worthies have to say about nations like Turkey, Albania and Asian republics which have outlawed Triple Talaq. The Indian constitution in its directive principles clearly states that the state will endeavor to bring about a uniform civil code that will overstep the Sharia  for marriage, divorce, and property. But despite this injunction political parties like the Congress and even now the BJP are averse to the implementation of this aspect of the Directive Principles. The Congress party had an axe to grind and when Nehru brought in the Hindu Marriage Act in 1955 it is a moot point why he kept the Muslim community out of its ambit. By allowing the Muslims to continue to practice a 6th-century archaic law, Nehru in real terms did great harm to Muslims in general and Muslim women in particular. In all progressive countries, Muslim personal law has been rejected and I am not aware of a single nation anywhere in the world where Muslims are allowed to practice their own personal law. In some nations like China, even Muslims are debarred from fasting during Ramadan on account of its deleterious effect on the health of Muslim children and women. Yet the Muslim world is silent and dare not criticize China. In India, we have a class of people who I shall refer to as pseudo secularists. These people create a bogey of rights of minorities, in particular, Muslims. They say that enforcing a uniform personal law will go against the concept of secularism. I wonder these worthies realize the harm they are doing to Muslim women. One can recollect that an educated man like Shoib the Pakistani cricket player divorced his first wife by uttering the word Talaq 3 times and then marrying the Indian tennis star Sania Mirza. What a travesty of law and Islamic jurisprudence. Nehru was a leader who was loved by Indian masses. He had an aura around him as he was the associate of Mahatma Gandhi. One accepted a lot from him to lead India forward. His rousing speech on independence day about India's "Tryst with Destiny" is simply great. But he did not live up to his ideals and  created a permanent division in society and relegated Muslim women to the backyard by leaving the Muslims to practice their own personal law. This action of Nehru does not gel with the character of the man who appeared to be a progressive man and had spent donkeys years in England. Perhaps there is a method to the madness, but I am unable to realize the motives of Nehru in not enforcing a single and uniform civil code. Sadly even the  BJP in its earlier stint in power under Vajpayee failed to make any attempt to tinker with Muslim personal law. The advent of Narendra Modi promised much, but manifestos and loud talk lead nowhere and I am constrained to point out that Modi is an abject failure as with a massive majority he has not touched on any issue that he and BJP had promised. India is the only country in the world with a dual personal law and frankly this is the first step to a deep division in India.  It will be sad if India cracks up. I read Bapsi Sidhwa the Pakistani writers novel " Cracking India" on the  break-up of India.  We must recollect that just 2 years before independence  (1945) nobody envisaged a  break-up of India and yet it happened.Who can foretell the future?

As a pilot,  I am always concerned about men who die to fly for the nation, whichever it may be. The Second World War was one war which was almost like Armageddon, the last battle between good and evil. As is well known the Imperial army had laid waste the entire China and had set up a puppet regime in Manchuria. The entire seacoast of China was under the control of the Japanese navy and the ports of Shanghai among others were blockaded. There was no way for the Allies to reach the beleaguered Chinese National army fighting the Japanese. Thus, the problem was how to supply food, medicines and weapons to the Chinese. This problem was solved and the US Air Force began an airlift from Assam to China, flying over the Himalayas. This has now been referred to as flying over "The Hump". It was daredevil flying as the US Air Force flew sorties from Chabua, Khumbhigram, Mohanbari, Tezpur and Jorhat to China. In addition to the transport planes, the US Air Force also flew bombing missions and bombed the Japanese positions. The USAF used the B-24( Liberator) a long-range heavy bomber to bomb the Japanese positions. These were dangerous missions and many planes crashed while flying over the tall and the lofty Himalayas. Many were shot by enemy Anti-aircraft gunfire and some crashed in China and some crashed while returning in NEFA( now known as Arunachal Pradesh). The US Air Force mounted round the clock operations and the pilots flew the machines day and night. The US always wanted that planes which had crashed in NEFA be found out and the crew repatriated back to America for last rites.  Unfortunately, as is well known, the Chinese after conquering Tibet have claimed entire Arunachal Pradesh as part of China. China objects to any activity in Arunachal Pradesh without its permission. As expected the Congress governments all gave in to the Chinese threats and refused any study or search of crashed US planes during WW II, for the simple reason that China objected. It's a moot point why successive governments gave in to Chinese threats when India considers Arunachal Pradesh as part of India. The government of the running dog of the Nehru family, Sardar ManMohan Singh was particularly guilty of succumbing to China and had refused to repatriate remains of a B-24 crew which had crashed sometime in 1944. In this, the Congress government let India down and reduced the Indian status to a third rate power scared of China. How can history forgive Nehru and the Congress party for this great surrender? The Americans had been making requests for 10 years and it's a sad tale that ManMohan Singh Congress government refused the American request. At the back of the mind of the Congress government was a fear of China. God took a hand and the Congress party was reduced to a rump in the 2014 election. The BJP swept to power and Modi set about asserting India's rights. He approved the remains of the US  airmen to be repatriated to the USA. It was a poignant moment as the bodies of the US airmen draped in the US national flag were handed over in a ceremonial manner to US representatives at Palam airbase in Delhi. Modi had honored the memory of the brave airmen who had died flying for their country. he pointedly ignored China, something Man Mohan Singh should have done. The US is thankful to India for this and the remains of the soldiers have been flown to Washington , where DNA tests will be done and efforts made to establish the identity of the airmen. For this act alone Modi will be remembered for all times to come. The missions over the Hump were daredevil missions and one can understand that in those days the aircraft were not as advanced as these days.Flying over the hump required great skill and bravery. All credit to US Air Force airmen who undertook these missions. Greater credit to Modi and the BJP government that they chose to ignore the bully China and allowed the airmen to have a last resting place. An airman deserves respect, especially if he has died on a mission. These airmen can now rest in peace.

Lumbar spondylosis is a degenerative disease, which most often is caused by people's wrong posture habits; but that does not mean, it has only that cause, it has other causes too; which I will disclose you, in rest of article one by one; along with way to identify lumbar spondylosis victim. But question is, how to identify lumbar spondylosis patient? How to know that a person is suffering from lumbar spondylosis? Well, lumbar spondylosis patient, mostly suffers from following complaints- They usually complaints of pain that affect their hips and thigh and this pain can be dull or sharp, depending on the severity of the patient's lumbar spondylosis stage. 2nd complaint they may have associated with first complaint and that is due to above pain, told in first complaint; they usually have difficulty in their walking and sitting routine. 3rd complaint that a lumbar spondylosis patient have, is feeling of weakness in affected legs and painful area, is tender to touch. Now comes causes of lumbar spondylosis, which I promised to you, to describe in 1st paragraph of article and they are- As I described in 1st paragraph that it is caused by, wrong posture habits. But, which posture is wrong and which is right? Sitting posture in which knees are not bend at 90 degree and back is not straight; that is, wrong posture. And if, body is in more curved way, in standing position; then that is, also wrong standing posture. For example, if head is bend more toward forward side and shoulders are not straight, bend more inwards while standing; then that is called, body is more curved. Whereas, if a person while standing, have head straight, shoulders straight and back upright; then that is called, right posture. So that was about wrong posture habits. But, do you know that not only wrong posture habits, result in lumbar spondylosis suffering, in future; but sitting for very prolonged hours, can cause lumbar spondylosis. Lifting the heavy objects wrong way daily, due to one's work schedule, can cause lumbar spondylosis. Aging is also responsible for lumbar spondylosis, in aged people in old age. But, why? It is because aging decrease the space between vertebrae of spine, due to which spinal nerves passing through that space got compressed. This compression cause pain of lumbar spondylosis. Sometimes it is not due to aging; it is because patient have this disease in genes. Sometimes patient have this disease, just because of increased weight; which is making them sit in wrong posture, inviting lumbar spondylosis. Obesity also cause this disease because of lack of exercise, in obese people's life because active schedule, doing exercise save a person from suffering from lumbar spondylosis.  Do you know that sometimes it can be caused due to stress, if patient has emotionally stressful circumstances. Horses and Women have been part of my life for long years. I started off early on horses from a young age and perfected my skill later at the military academy. I also picked up horse polo at the academy, though I dare say I was not a champion in this field of sport. Horses drew me closer to women and after varied experiences have concluded that riding a horse can be an exhilaration that is almost akin to a conquest of a woman. My first experience of horse riding was when I was in my 6th standard. My dad an officer in the. Indian armed forces got me enrolled with his influence at the local BSF horse battalion. After initial pains and aches, I began to love riding horses. I realized I had a good vibration with my horses and I understood them as they understood me. I realized the rider had an invisible bond with the horse. I realized this as I galloped across hills and dales at Mhow.  When I entered the academy, I had a head start over the others who had just begun t ride horses. I was an adept rider and so the instructor gave me a lot of leeways. I was left alone for long periods. At the academy our chief horse trainer a Sergeant Major was an Englishman who had come on an exchange program from the English army. He was a hard taskmaster but gave me a lot of latitudes as I had a way with horses. He also introduced me to his daughter who was a blonde and as good a horse rider as anyone can come across. By a quirk of fate, we were often thrown together and when riding we developed an intimacy that has lived with me down the years. So often we would ride to the distant hills and then tether the horses to a tree when we followed up with time in each others arms. Sally( I will give her this name , not the real one) was also a wonderful polo player and that's how I got hooked on the game. It gives me great pleasure now that I played  horse polo as it is a game which earlier was the preserve of the Maharajas like Bhupinder Singh of Patiala and the maharajah of Jaipur. This was the most exhilarating term at the academy. But all good things come to an end the Sergeant Major got transferred back to England. The going of Sally affected me and I never developed my Horse polo after she left, but riding continued. Even now whenever I am in Mumbai I ride at the Amateur Riders Club, Mahalaxmi and also at Singapore at the Police academy. I thus remain fit and thank my dad that he forced me to learn to ride. Riding has its spillover effect. The first is physical fitness and greater stamina. These two are the ingredients that drive life. I have been saddened that this sport is out of reach for 99% of my countrymen and only if one joins the police or armed forces can one have access to horses and be a rider or if one is rich. The last category has tons of money and some like my  Parsi friend own dozens of stallions. Some also have horse farms that that develop race horses. I have ridden a few and I can say riding a race horse requires greater skill as the horse once in gallop can be mastered only by a skillful rider. It can also be dangerous as was seen when a horse threw the Superman Star Steeve Reeves off his back and the great star broke his neck. Certainly this is a macho sport, but in my view the thrill is great. There is a spillover  as I have found women are attracted to horse riders. I won't dwell on this aspect much as its a personal matter. But if one has seen the Hindi film " Zubieda" starring Manoj Bajpai as the Maharajah and Karishma Kapoor as his love says it all.  A horse is a great animal, he senses the mood of the rider. I remember I was in a surly mood at the Mahalaxmi after a tiff with my girl and the great beast sensed it. He refused to gallop and sauntered around to where my girl was on a horse. What an animal, who can believe it ? Lastly a bit of baring the soul. Horses and women go together. But this is a different game and there are exhilarating moments and sad ones. Sad when one of my friends captain Sangha died playing polo after a fall and happy at some of the loveliest women who I have dated were also riders like me. The best was a date from royalty at Bhopal in an exhibition match.  Lastly, what can I write further? I will just add that horses and women go together and I hope many young men and women can ride this sport. India is the laggard and it's about time we caught up with the world. Let's not forget those great Indian Hindu warriors like Bindusara and Chandragupta who were great horse riders. For Hindu kings and warriors it was a manly sport, so let's pick up the threads.

Introduction India and China have been neighbours since the dawn of history. However, Tibet was the adjacent country and most times acted as a buffer between Indian and China. But China has always claimed Tibet as a part of China. Tibetan leaders at various stages have accepted the suzerainty of China though for small periods Tibet did have an independent existence.  In 1947 when the British departed from  India they left behind the imprint of great power status in Asia. Nehru and India donned the mantle of this power status  and logically India should have used it as a springboard to be a world power. The British during the 18/19th century were involved in what is known as the "great game". This was a struggle for supremacy in Central Asia between Britain and Russia which under the Tsar was increasing its hold in Central Asia. The British outmanoeuvred the Tsar and after the YoungHusband Expedition in 1903/04 brought Tibet within their sphere of influence.Among the benefits for India was the incorporation of the North East Frontier Agency( Now Arunachal Pradesh) as part of India as well as taking over of Aksai Chin from Tibet. This was given a legal covenant by the Simla pact of 1913. This pact demarcated the boundary between Tibet and India and also gave the British extraterritorial rights in Tibet by way of permission to maintain British Indian army troops  at a number of places in Tibet. The Beginning-Nehru's Blunders In 1947 Nehru, the Indian prime minister inherited a rich legacy of the road to great power status. But here is the fly in the ointment. Nehru was a philosopher and unsuited to the game of great power status and the means to achieve it. He was unaware that military strength is the tool for great power status. He believed that the world is an ideal place and assumed everybody is a gentleman. these rosy ideas proved to be his undoing and at the end of his reign, he cut a sorry figure and became an object of ridicule in the world. Nehru's first blunder was when he ordered the withdrawal of Indian troops from Tibet. The C in C at that time a British general advised Nehru against it, but he persisted and India gave up a vantage position on the Chess board of politics. Nehru thought that with the end of Imperialism, India faced no danger, but this just shows is the poor grasp of great power politics. With one blow Nehru tied one hand of the Indian people behind their back. Worse was to follow as in 1949 the Peoples Liberation army invaded Tibet. The Dalai Lama appealed for help but Nehru despite objections from Sardar Patel did not help Tibet. The PLA overran Tibet. Instead of helping Tibet Nehru made a ludicrous statement that he recognized the suzerainty of China over Tibet and he 'expected' the Chinese to honor autonomy of Tibet. Such a statement is neither here nor there.  Nehru committed another blunder. After the lapse of British power, he should by corollary have established civil and military control over Aksai Chin and Ladakh. He did nothing and just sat, wasting time on inane matters. Unknown to him the Chinese entered the vacant land and occupied nearly 30,000 square miles of land, with New Delhi knowing nothing and being completely in the dark. In 1959, a military platoon led by a Subedar Major was confronted by the Chinese army. The Chinese fired and killed a few Indian soldiers. That was the first that Nehru learnt that Chinese had occupied the entire Aksai Chin.He made another ludicrous statement to the effect that " not a blade of grass grows there". This was something irrelevant at that time as he had realized he had made a blunder. China Asserts over India Nehru tried to make amends and ordered the Indian army to set up posts in no man's lands and assert Indian rights. This was again a very silly order as the army had not been beefed up and was a neglected force. It had obsolete rifles of World war I vintage and no winter clothing. Nehru had all along neglected the Indian army and the finest  military machine had gone to seed. The Chinese were alarmed and Mao Tse Tung addressed the Central Committee of the Communist party. He informed the Central Committee that war was inevitable due to the actions of Nehru.A graphic account is given by Maxwell in his book " India's China war" as well as by Brigadier Dalvi in his book "Himalayan Blunder". On 20th October 1962, the Chinese struck all across the Himalayas from Ladakh to NEFA. In a swift campaign the Indian army was defeated, yet in Ladakh the troops bereft of modern weapons fought heroically and even Radio Peking admitted to heavy casualties in battles at Chusal and other places. Nehru now went into a shell and he turned to help from organizations that he had held in contempt for long like the RSS.In world politics, Indan prestige sank low and China emerged as the great Asian power.Nehru himself became the subject of ridicule and he died in 1964 a broken man who wondered, why China had spurned his hand of friendship. If he  had studied world history he would have realized that great powers do not want equal friends but  vassal states and Mao was not interested that India could or should be the equal of China. Nehru's Dread In 1947, Nehru had made a rousing speech which is even now broadcast off and on. His speech titled " India's tryst with Destiny" remained only a speech and he never followed up to make India the dominant power in Asia. His morbid fear of a military coup probably had something to do with his decision to not modernize the army and keep it at arms length. He was scared that the Indian generals would dethrone him like General Ne Win in Burma and General Ayub Khan in Pakistan. In the bargain, he sold India down the drain.  Nehru's successors had no leeway and now the Chinese began tp claim that as Tibet was an integral part of China, it claimed areas which were once part of the Tibetan Empire. Thus, the Chinese claimed the entire NEFA and Ladakh. India having been defeated could only send protests as the Chinese built a formidable military presence in Tibet. Psychosis of Fear The Indian leadership from that time (from the time of Nehru) has remained in awe of China. The will to match China is non-existent and overall it has been a game of surrender. An example will suffice. On a study tour of Ladakh,  while undergoing the staff course at DSSC, we were surprised that the Indian army had only ONE division facing China in a holding role. The Chinese it was reported had 5/6 divisions facing India in Aksai Chin and nearly 25-30 divisions in Tibet. To my mind, the Indian government had thrown in the towel as far as China was concerned. This state of affairs has continued even with Modi in power. Recently the US Navy had suggested joint patrolling of the South China Sea with the Indian navy. I am told Modi forbade it as it will 'Antagonize" China.Incidentally, the Vietnam government was keen that India helps them. It's about time the government at Delhi  realized that China cannot be treated with kid gloves and any form of diplomacy like Modi sitting in a swing( jhoola) with President Li has no meaning. Chian is intent on being a world power and will assert itself. It will also ensure that India remains perpetually weak. Keeping this in mind China is cultivating Pakistan. I am told by a naval officer that not only China will exert pressure along the Himalayan border  but very soon will be patrolling the Indian coast abutting the Arabian Sea with Pakistan Navy. The idea is to box the Indian navy in case of a conflict. In contrast, the Modi government has developed cold feet in patrolling the South China Sea along with the US Navy despite a request from the republic of Vietnam. This shows the mindset of the Indian government. One can say that this is an ostrich-like mentality, for the gathering storm if and when it comes cannot be averted. Throughout the last 5 decades after the death of Nehru, the successive governments have all been dominated by a fear psychosis of China. India is at the crossroads and even the BJP has not reversed the trend of Nehru of distrust of the army. How many know that the ministry of defence is itself a litigant against its own soldiers in hundreds of cases. The new defence minister Mohan Parrikar has however been seized of this problem and has instructed that such infructuous  cases be withdrawn. One will have to wait and see whether this will happen or not. Last word The fact is as pointed out by Field Marshal Montogomery in his " History of warfare" that the Hindus lack strategic sense and are basically pacifists. This is not conducive to becoming a great power. Samrat Ashoka is an example. After the Kalinga war, he embraced pacifism and the result was that his empire collapsed in a heap within 50 years of his death. Not a legacy to be proud off.  I wonder who will bell the cat? Modi in my view is no better than other leaders before him as he has his own problems. The concept to build military power and dominate the world is just not there and worse the mettle to face China on the back burner. I wonder whether the Chinese Institute of Strategic Studies forecast of a breakup of India due to pacifism and caste contradictions will be true or not. As a nationalist one hopes India will rise like the Phoenix the mythical bird from the ashes, but presently looks highly unlikely.

India became free in 1947 after the British had won a pyrrhic victory over Hitler's Germany. They at that time were too weak to hold on to their possessions and Lord Attlee decided the time had come for the British to go away. The Indian Independence Act was passed by the British parliament and India was granted freedom in 1947. The Congress party led by Gandhi had been agitating against British rule for almost 40 years. Unfortunately their impact was minimal and Gandhi was treated like a gentle old man as he cooperated with the English by siding with them against Hitler.Gandhi died soon after independence but lived long enough to see that the British had the last laugh as they bifurcated India on the concept of the two nation theory and created Pakistan. The British departed from  India but left India to face a perpetual problem in the form of a Muslim state that was anathema to India. The Congress party under Jawaharlal Nehru won all the elections after 1947 as at that time there was  a) No worthwhile opposition b) The people still had some love for the grand old party for its role in the freedom movement. Unfortunately, the Congress party when in power squandered the good will of the people and followed policies and practices that economically devastated India. it also under the leadership of Nehru for reasons that have never been explained had a soft corner for the Muslim minority and Nehru went out of his way to respect Muslim sentiments  even to the extent of ignoring the constitution. Nehru also showed that he had little concept of power politics and was outmaneuvered by both Mao and earlier by Jinnah and the result was that India lost 40% of Jammu and Kashmir and became a second-rate power to China which occupied vast tracts of Indian land. Nehru died in 1964, leaving insurmountable problems for the Indian state. The last straw which broke the back of the Indian state was the creation of linguistic states. We must remember that India throughout history was NEVER divided into linguistic lines. Nehru changed all that and laid the first seeds of division in a united India. Nehru was a man of stature and he was loved by the Indian masses. Unfortunately, Nehru squandered the good will of the people and did precious little to remove the greatest bugbear of India ;poverty. His policies followed later by his successors can only be termed catastrophic as even after 60 years of Congress rule thousands of farmers commit suicide. In a nation where 75% of the population is engaged in agriculture to have thousands of farmers committing suicide is a most unsavory factor. One is not aware whether in other nations so many farmers in thousands are forced to commit suicide. These suicides will forever remain a black mark on the rule of the Congress party. One expected the minimum, that at least food and economic security would be the first priority, but the Congress failed miserably and in a way betrayed the trust of the Indian people. The one thing that thrived under Congress rule was the proliferation of Black money and all around corruption. The worst period of Congress rule was the era when from 2004-14 when the running dog of the Nehru-Gandhi family, Man Mohan Singh was prime minister. I use the word "running dog" not as something insulting but like a Chinese proverb for a man who  has no independence. This man presided over the greatest loot in world history, something which we associate with corrupt men like Batista  and others. The situation was so bad that even cabinet ministers of the union cabinet took part in looting the national exchequer and billions were siphoned away. Yet this man in an address to the FICCI was more concerned about Modi than corruption. I recollect that he said that in the case Modi came to power, it will be bad for India. The Congress party in 60 years of rule lowered the prestige of India globally and till date, the Kashmir problem remains unsolved. I don't think it ever will be solved till there is the last fight between Indian and Pakistan as per the Bible the Armageddon- the last battle between good and evil. Who knows who will win? Economically the Congress has failed the most. The primary aim of the party stalwarts was to remain in power and for this, the Congress is guilty of creating vote  banks. It carried on the policy of the English of divide and rule and it pitted the minority against the majority. Instead of concentrating on economy and prevention of corruption, the unpalatable fact emerges that the Congress was only interested in remaining in power come what may. They thus stoked the communal flame and carried out the greatest carnage in world history when over 10000 Sikhs were killed on the Streets of Delhi> Even Hitler never killed any jews on the streets of Berlin. What a contrast! The past will haunt the Congress party and as one writer wrote the "grapes of Wrath" will engulph this party. Retribution will come for that is the law of nature. The Congress party cannot absolve itself of culpability where 60% of the population lives below the poverty line and almost 70% of the population have no sanitation facilities, not forgetting thousands of farmers killing themselves because of their abject economic condition. Is this what Gandhi wanted? he remains another big failure in Indian history. The hour finds the man. I am no supporter of Modi and the BJP and I have written about him in another post. But he is the only ray of hope for India and one hopes he gets his act together and leads India forward. I wonder whether India will have a leader like Kemel Mustapha the Ataturk who modernized Turkey.  I am an optimist and I feel sooner than later the Congress party and its leaders led by Rahul will stand before the bar of the Indian people and a messiah will lead India forward. Jai Hind !

When we offer an Ice cream cup or Ice cream cone to children, then they will surely spread it on their hands and around their mouth. But now an Ice cream has been introduced which could not spread on their hands and around the mouth. This new Ice cream looks like thermocol balls or chocolate chips. These have become children’s latest favorite in all over the world. Actually, Normal Ice cream is like butter and milk cream. When we taste this Ice cream, it will be slippery and melts very soon in the mouth. But the Ice cream, which looks like the thermocol balls, no one can expect them as ice cream. We need to keep them in the mouth and have it directly like a chocolate. Therefore, it is truly ice cream and it is known as Ice cream snack. These Ice cream snacks are available in attractive colors, and in different tasty flavors like pineapple, chocolate, strawberry, vanilla, black currant, pista, cardamom, Alphonso mango, coffee, cookies and cream, double choc chip, shahi kulfi, cotton candies. The specialty of this Ice cream snack is, we can have more than one flavor at a time. When you keep it in your mouth, you may get the feeling of having some ice cream chocolate but not as normal ice cream. Compare to normal ice cream, ice cream snacks are weightier. Because due to thorough beating in normal ice cream, it is filled with air, but that air won’t be present in these ice cream snacks. So these ice cream snack weight is more as air cannot enter into it.  We need to freeze these ice cream snacks in an air tight place. This is the reason even flavors also more in the ice cream snacks compare to normal ice cream. To store these ice cream snacks, we need to place them in a cooler place. So when serving this in a cup, immediately you need to have it. If you plan to take to your house from the shop, they immediately melt and becomes like normal ice cream. How to prepare: In 1987, a person’s name Kurt Jones, a microbiologist, first time prepared this snack ice cream. According to his profession, Jones used to do number experiments on probiotic bacteria to store in humidity. As one of the experiments, with the help of liquid nitrogen, he stored those bacteria as small balls. Later, while preparing ice cream at home, he got an idea to make ice cream balls by freezing ice cream in small ball shape. Then, with the help of liquid nitrogen he has made ice cream as a small ice creams ball by storing at less than zero degrees. Later he tasted it and liked it. He released this ice cream with name of ‘Dip the dust, ice cream of the future’ into the market. With this inspiration, American companies have become competitors. They have introduced this frozen dust more to the world. Mini melts is one of the American company tells their ice cream is the coolest ice cream in the world as they freeze it at -187 degrees. In India last year they started 1200 above outlets and branded ice cream has owned 12 % in the market. Though whatever company it is, but this ice cream snack is not available in retail shops. To store these ice cream balls at least -40 centigrade is necessary. So they are available in special franchised outlet only. So when you go to malls or amusement parks. If you find these ice cream balls stall, then don’t miss the chance of enjoying these amazing taste.

Introduction It is perhaps to be universally accepted that no man is born whole, or perfect. He must be having some handicap, physical or mental problem. Handicap actually means shortage of something from the very birth in the body or the defects found in the body. Even doctors hold that such handicap patients do not find their lives as difficult and insuperable as other think. Many people think that they can never be able to overcome from their situation but it is fully a wrong perception which mostly people have in their mind, they overcome very well and fight with the life very handsomely. The blind, the short-legged or the dumb carry on in life in a manner sometimes, as would cause envy in the luckier class of man. The blind and the dumb have sometimes beaten their rivals in exams and other kinds of tests. Physical handicapped  However, science today has equally made up the loss of such persons by providing them with aids. In addition there goes a psychological theory that a person deficient in one faculty enjoys an over plus in other faculties. Nature restores his imbalance by lending some additional power to his other faculty. Those born deficient are seen everyday fighting their life battle with energy and boldly. But even those who had loss their organ in their war or disease are seen to have good confidence and fight with their life by dint of their strong will. I have seen army jawans that are physically injured. Some has lost his one leg, others their arm. They surmount their physical handicap; they even play with one hand or one leg. A patient whose right is paralysed develops his own technique in tying and untying the laces of his shoe and boot. In my area a child was born whose four limbs were found locked into one another. The child was otherwise, lovely. Apart from suggesting medicine the great child specialist advised some physiotherapy. The boy’s urging to survive or say, his vital energy was so powerful that in a couple of months he adjusted himself to the therapy as a natural habit. The methods and modes were no longer anything like a medical feat with him; they became a part of his being. Thus the will to live or prosper, what in actual speaking the living energy in a person, provides both the strength and intelligence to set at naught the physical disabilities.  Mentally handicapped  Even in cases of mental handicap, the affected persons have been able to compensate through their contact with good psychiatrists. There are many psychiatry centres which had cured many such patients who were mentally handicapped. In such cases, however, the problem is relatively more acute as well as delicate. To put or instil confidence or self-reliance in a mentally deficient person is not so easy or it is not an ordinary work. In cases of physical handicap the remedial suggestions are promptly accepted: if the patient mentally feels or experiences improvement. But in mental cases the task calls for greater caution and patience, because the patient understands faculty itself is affected. But still great mental doctors and psychologists have surmounted this difficulty with credit.  Conclusion  As such I hold that unless the patient cooperates and shows determination, the problem cannot be solved. And I think that to solve any problem in human body, only one thing is needed and that is determination.

Introduction I will, in this article, narrate the account of a famous last stand by the Sikh Regiment of the Indian army on 12 September 1897 at Saragrahi, now in Pakistan. We have heard,  read and seen on celluloid the feat of 300 Spartan soldiers who held at bay a much larger Persian force. This episode has been made into a film by Hollywood titled "300" and showcases the bravery of the soldiers of Sparta who held a force of 50000 Persian soldiers under the command of Emperor Xerxes at the mouth of a pass at the Messina mountains.  Unfortunately, hardly anybody is aware of a similar act of bravery where 21 Sikhs of the British Indian army under Havildar Karam Singh fought a force of over 3,000 Muslim tribesmen, The Sikhs numbering just 21 fought this force of Jihadi Muslim soldiers for an entire day and died fighting to the last man and bullet, with the end coming  with a bayonet charge by the last man, a signaller. The Battle of Saragrahi is recognized by UNESCO as one of the 10 greatest stands in the military history of the World. The Battle In 1896-97, the restive Afghan and Pushtoon tribes revolted against British rule. Their leader Gul Pasha declared "Jihad" against the British. Pushtoon tribes were up in arms against the infidels. The situation was particularly bad in the Orkazi division. Here the British had 2 forts on two hill crests. These forts were earlier built by Hari Singh Nalwa, the Sikh general when he was fighting the Afghans. After the defeat of the Sikhs, these forts were taken over by the British. Both these forts were out of the line of sight of each other. To facilitate communication between the forts another smaller fort was located at Saragrahi. This was a heliographic communication unit and it passed messages between the forts. The unit at Saragrahi was housed in a small fortress and was manned by 21 Sikhs of the British Indian army under the command of Havildar Karam Singh. The tribesmen surrounded the British forts and a large contingent of some 3,000 proceeded to attack the fortress of Saragrahi. the Sikh wiki puts the figure of the tribesmen at 10,000, but my estimate is that perhaps there were about 3000 of them. The decision to attack Saragrahi was a sound military decision as Gul Shah the leader was aware that in case he destroyed the fortress at Saragrahi, his chance of success against the other two forts was greater. On 12 September 1897, the Afghan and Pashtoon tribesmen launched a frontal assault against Saragrahi. The attacks commenced at first light. Gul Shah had expected an easy victory but even after a dozen assaults the Sikhs inside the fortress held firm. The Afghans in the meantime had hundreds  killed by accurate fire from the fort. By 10 am the fortress had still not been  captured. Gul Shah now offered a truce and safe passage to Punjab to the Sikh troops in case they surrendered. This offer was spurned and the Tribesmen had no choice but re-commence the assault. Inside the fortress, the 21 Sikh ranks were slowly being depleted as one by one the Sikhs died fighting.  The Pathans continued the assault and suffered heavy casualties. However, a stage came when only one Sikh soldier was left. He was the signalman and with no ammunition. He requested his CO to carry out a bayonet charge. The Commanding Officer Col Haughton who was in one of the forts gave his assent. He had watched the fight the entire day from his fort, but could do nothing as his fort was surrounded by the Muslim horde. The Signalman died making the bayonet charge and finally Gul Shah could enter the fortress. Seeing the bodies of the 21 Sikh soldiers he wondered why they did not surrender when he had offered them safe passage to Punjab. The fortress was burnt down by the Pushtoons and Afghans. By evening, the British could break out from the fortress and attacked the Afghan tribesmen. It was a swift counterattack, spearheaded by ethnic English soldiers and Sikhs and the Muslim tribesmen were defeated and soon were routed. The British restored order in the region and the Jihad movement was ruthlessly crushed. Colonel Haughton reached the fortress and saw that it had been burnt to earth. He was impressed by the bravery of the Sikh soldiers and accordingly informed the British government. All the 21 Sikhs were awarded the Star of India the highest military decoration at that time. Last Word The British were generous and gave land grants to the next of kin of all the 21 Sikhs. They also built a Gurudwara at Ferozepur. This is known as the Saragrahi gurudwara and has the names of the 21 Sikh soldiers who died that day inscribed on a marble plaque. Queen Victoria was informed of the bravery of the Sikhs and a special session of  both the Hose of Lords and Commons rose up to honor the memory of the brave Sikhs. The British chose 12th September as the raising day of the Sikh regiment and this is now  celebrated as regimental day by all Sikh regiments. There is also a 'mela' every year at Ferozepur to commemorate the glorious last stand by 21 Sikh soldiers. After independence, the Indian government led by Nehru had no idea of military valor and the concept of military power as an instrument of state policy. In fact, we had ludicrous statements like the one made by Dr. Rajendra Prasad the then President of India who called for the army to be disbanded. This incident was never publicized.  Times have changed and now the Indian government has woken up to this incident and this story is included in the school textbooks in Punjab. There is now greater awareness and credit must go to the change of government. The best part is that Bollywood is also making a film on this battle and if I remember the film will star Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgan. The battle is now consigned to history, but every Indian must know about it. A stand by a small contingent of 21 Sikh soldiers against a horde of 10,000 is the stuff of legends.

One of my friends’ daughter was married last year to a boy of her choice, younger than her by 4 years and less educated and coming from a different class and religious community. This was not liked by the parents and relatives on both sides but that did not deter the young couple who were supposedly very much in love and determined to face all opposition and lead a happy life ever after. In fact, the more the opposition the more determined they were to get married and prove everyone else wrong. They were married at the registrar’s office and had a reception for friends and close family. However, within a matter of 5 months they separated and now are in the process of filing for divorce in the family court. It was very sad and although my friend did try her level best to talk some sense into her daughter, even dissuade her from taking a hasty decision, the girl in turn cited and brought out all the very same differences between her and her husband that the parents had brought out before the marriage as reasons for the breakdown of relationship trying to convince her parents and herself that she was doing the right thing! Part of the blame also was with my friend and her husband and on their home atmosphere, since they fought day in and day out creating a very unstable and unhappy home atmosphere with one or the other perpetually moving out of the house for days together and later coming back reluctantly, which probably made the girl choose a man erratically simply to get away from home. I doubt if she gave much thought about the future prospects. While I am definitely not against either the age factor where the girl is older or for that matter the religious differences, it is also a well-known fact that the more differences you have, the more complicated a relationship becomes and more adjustment you need to make. And, I personally feel that nowadays young couple are not ready to go all out to compromise or save their marriage or even make it work. The attitude is, if it works fine or else one can always separate and remarry later. This kind of attitude reflects even in their career choices which further weakens their own commitment levels. The debate between love marriage and arranged marriage is an age old one with family elders and many wise old people advising youngsters to be extra cautious when it comes to choosing their life partner, more so when it is a love marriage! Not that arranged marriages are hundred percent safe but some of the responsibilities are normally shouldered by the couples' parents and immediate family, during times of distress and timely advice given when misunderstandings occur. They make sure that the couple don’t break away easily without having exhausted all possible options. Of course there are times when the family honor bit is taken too far even when there is enough reason for separation. Change is universal However, one cannot stop the winds of change since change is universal and the only permanent thing in life. With changed values and life style people’s attitudes and preferences too change. Relationships have undergone a change, one cannot say whether it is for the better or worse. We have seen a spate of suicides due to failed relationships or due to disappointment among the celebrities, one such recent case of suicide is still being debated by all news channels. In almost all of these cases the girl suffers because inherently whether they admit or not girls expect more from their partners being more emotional by nature – stability and security. When they find their partners cheating on them or not reciprocating in the way they expect them to, they feel distressed and they take a drastic step like suicide. This is what comes out of jumping into relationships based solely on physical attraction. Again going back to the good old days there was a lot of interaction between families, cousins and family elders with people visiting each others' homes and partaking in joint celebrations. Most of these activities have stopped in cities because of lack of time, distance and other factors. Many of the today's youngsters meet even their grandparents once a year if they are lucky and their interactions are never intimate and fulfilling. This also reflects on youngsters attitude in their own personal life. They  become self centered and tend to take life and relationships far more casually than the previous generations did. There is an age old saying ' When problems come in through the door, love flies out of the window '! Problems seem immense after the couple settle down to their married life and their eternal love, if it is not strong enough to withstand the initial problems of adjustments, can easily fly out quickly, thereby leading the distress and disappointment. In fact problems zoom through the door since one is never ever prepared for them and always taken by surprise at the pace at which they destroy our entire life! During the good old times family elders acted as counselors giving the required wisdom, advise, and help that would help calm down ruffled egos and troubled marriages. Today, things are vastly different with nuclear families and love marriages becoming the norm at least in metro cities and when there is trouble, many a times things become complicated and get out of hand. Statistics show that in the past decade there have been far more number of divorces and separations than at any time in the past and number would only increase in the days to come. One cannot blame love marriages alone for this state of affairs. It is a transition that is taking place in our society when youngsters would rather have their way than compromise on what they think is their freedom and right of expression. This is true of both men and women. Education, Financial freedom and liberalisation has made youngsters to a certain extent reckless in their attitude towards life in general including marriage and family ! Is there a middle path ? I remember a seminar I attended dealing with youngsters and their unique problems in our society. Almost 70% of the crowd consisting of mostly post graduate students between the age group of 22- 26, felt that they would prefer to experiment with sex before marriage and would want to have a sexual/live in relationship with the opposite sex before they decide to marry. In fact they felt that they may have to have several such relationships before they finally find someone of their choice with whom they would decide to spend the rest of their life. Some of them even went to the extent of saying that while sex is essential, marriage was not, so they may have several intimate relationships with no firm commitment . However, I admired their direct talk and their ability to speak their mind. On analysing this trend of thought from the youngsters three points came to my mind .. First of all for those wanting to settle down - where and when do they draw the line? After the 3rd, 4th or the 5th partner? And what if they never find anyone of their choice? Do they go on experimenting all their lives ? Second point that most of the youngsters seem to forget is the emotional one. Each time you get closer to another individual you get emotionally attached to the person to a certain extent even without realising and a breakup can leave a scar and the more breakups, the more scars. This may  make a person disillusioned and disinterested to the extent that he or she may become a cynic, not being able to settle down with anyone. Some of them also may end up blaming themselves for not being able to sustain a relationship and develop an inferiority complex about their own selves. Thirdly and far more importantly, what about health issues? Do they realise that with such an attitude they are laying themselves open to health hazards if one of them has some transmittable disease .  When some of us suggested a middle path of becoming friends and getting to know each other well from all angles and only if there is a strong bond, to go in for a live in relationship, since that seems to be pretty much the norm these days. It was not encouraging to see the lukewarm and halfhearted  response from the majority, although a few did agree that the suggestion was sensible. One cannot blame the now generation for being fast paced, wanting everything instantly and if things don’t work out they would go ahead and look for a different partner rather than try to compromise and work on their already existing relationships. Marry in haste and repent at leisure - this is also a reflection of changed values within our society. This may seem drastic to the older generation and to some from the new generation as well, but one has to move with the times and accept change. A strong family atmosphere in their own homes can make youngsters seek strong commitments and also capable of giving the same to their loved ones. Broken homes and troubled family atmosphere is at the root of most of these platonic and foot loose relationships that can only lead to stress and unhappiness in the long run. As I wrote earlier this may also end in tragedies like suicides. Most suicides are never planned, and take place when an individual is extremely stressed at something  and feels it is the end of the path and decides to end his or her life. In more than 75% of the cases it is the girl who is driven to such a measure. Conclusion Can there be a life without problems and complications? Problems are there in every sphere of life, whether within a family or between couple. What essentially matters is what you have been exposed to as a child and a teenager. When children see their parents fight the general reaction is that of insecurity and fear. But if the parents make up after a while and are back to being on normal terms, children accept this as part of life and minor argument and misunderstanding don’t mean the end of the world, it is a way of clearing the air and then move on with your routine. They also realise that conflict and difference of opinion is bound to be there between people and needs to be dealt with in a mature manner. Having witnessed this in their own homes, they will be able to handle their relationships in the same manner . Children coming from homes where they become part of an abusive relationship or from broken homes find it very difficult to adjust to a normal relationship. Although in some cases, where the youngster is intelligent and has clarity of thought, that fact itself might spur him or her on to do better with their own lives and relationships rather than follow the example of their parents or elders. This is precisely why we need to teach our youngsters to be persistent and not give up easily, which trait reflects in all their dealings and activities and has far reaching effects into their adult life. One cannot give a perfect life but one can try to make it as secure and loving as possible. Because a strong bond within the family acts as a rudder and an anchor that helps the youngsters withstand and float along when problems come rushing in. ( image - google)

Reena created new article Oral Health.
Oral cavity is an important part of our body. Digestion begins in oral cavity. As soon as one eats food, it gets masticated in oral cavity i.e., crushed into fine pieces by teeth and passed on further the throat into the food pipe further into the stomach for digestion. Thus, any disease or infection of oral cavity spreads down further and affects the health of the whole of the body. Usually oral diseases caused are halitosis, oral ulcers, diseases of teeth etc..... Along with these diseases, certain severe diseases also develop like periodontal diseases, cancer of tongue and other areas of oral cavity. Since oral cavity is connected with other body parts and mainly stomach, any disease that occurs in oral cavity spreads to stomach too. Regarding stomach it is being told that if stomach of an individual is healthy, rest of the body remains healthy and if stomach becomes disease prone, within no time health of an individual will start deteriorating. Thus, one has to check his oral care and maintain oral hygiene as much as possible so that his stomach as well as overall health remains in a sound state. Many home remedies, natural therapies, yoga etc..... also helps to maintain good oral health care. Oral ulcers occur very commonly in different age groups. They appear on their own and clear out by themselves. Thus, most of us show negligence towards their occurrence. Oral ulcers occur due to some underlying cause. They are the signs which show something is wrong with our diet pattern and thus negligence should not be shown. A person who has digestion related disorder or is suffering from constipation often is seen affected from oral ulcers. Colitis is another condition responsible for occurrence of ulcers in oral cavity. Our body requires vitamins and minerals in adequate quantity on daily basis for its efficient working. However, when through diet we are not able to replenish vitamins and minerals in our body, various deficiency disorders form and oral ulcer is one of them. Another cause is hormonal changes occurring in the body. Stress and tension can also result in occurrence of oral ulcers. These ulcers can form in any part of the oral cavity. Commonly they occur on tongue and on inner areas of cheeks. Sometimes, they can also be seen on inner side of lips, on surface of palate, near tonsils etc..... They can be small, irregular in size or may be large and in a rounded form. They may be filled with clear watery liquid or sometimes with pus and blood. When oral ulcers are formed in oral cavity, a person often finds difficulty in consuming hot and spicy foods as they causes burning sensation. If ulcers are large, discomfort is caused. A person who chews tobacco or smokes cigarette regularly experience these kind of oral ulcers along with occurrence of white and red patches which can be a sign of cancer. Thus, whenever one experience burning sensation in areas of mouth or redness should consult a doctor as soon as possible. Oral ulcers are not a matter of great concern as they heal by themselves but sometimes if they do not heal within a certain period can take the form of cancer. Since oral ulcers are mainly caused due to digestion related disorders, care should be taken that digestion is proper. Psyllium husk taken regularly along with milk or water twice a day provides enough fiber to facilitate good digestion. Along with this a healthy balanced nutritious diet which is rich in fibrous fruits and vegetables if followed can result in good digestion. There are many home remedies which can keep digestion proper. One such is intake of 1 tsp of ghee in 1 glass of milk in the night. Trifala churn is also very effective in clearing constipation. Once stomach is healthy, oral ulcers too do not occur. When oral ulcers form in oral cavity, do not consume very hot and spicy foods. Keep diet healthy and less spicy. Gargling with warm water mixed with salt twice a day is effective. Do not eat excessive spicy foods, fast foods, very sour foods, citrus fruits, excessively cold foods etc..... Oral ulcer creams and gels are available in market. On topical application, they tend to provide a relief and start healing them. Doctors often prescribe B-Complex tablets as deficiency of vitamin B in body gets replenished and oral ulcers gradually start healing. Curd is very beneficial both if taken in diet as well as on application on ulcer. Special care should be taken regarding oral hygiene. Sometimes it is seen when oral ulcers take the form of severe painful ulcer, people out of concern do not brush or maintain their oral hygiene. Regular twice a day brushing of teeth is essential. For gargling purpose, either salt mixed with warm water or else mouth washes can be used which will provide great effect on healing. Halitosis is an important oral hygiene related problem faced by many. Bad odor or unpleasant odor coming from mouth itself is known as halitosis. It occurs when oral hygiene is in bad condition. Lack of proper maintenance of oral hygiene results in halitosis. It not only troubles one who is been affected from it but also others who come in contact with that person. It brings down confidence of a person and lowers his self esteem. Oral cavity is home to various micro-organisms. Few of them are friendly as they help in digestion whereas others are harmful releasing toxins causing various dental problems like tooth decay, gingival diseases, periodontal diseases, halitosis etc..... More the number of harmful micro-organisms grow in oral cavity, more severe more of halitosis develops. Bad odor is also seen among individuals who is suffering from tooth decay in large number and in individuals who are suffering from pyorrhea. Improper brushing techniques and irregularity in brushing is also an important cause. If care is not taken that while brushing all the areas of all the teeth are covered then food debris left in between teeth may result in tooth decay which in turn will result in halitosis. Thus, it's essential that one has to cultivate a habit of brushing twice a day i.e., once in the morning as soon as one wakes up and second time after finishing dinner, before going to bed. If essential, dental floss should be used which can help in the removal of food debris from in between teeth. Regular dental check-ups assure good oral health care. Tooth brushes, tooth pastes and tooth picks should only be used of good quality or as recommended by dentist.

Reena created new article Good Memory Power.
Good memory is essential and everyone needs it to excel in their respective departments irrespective of whether they are working or busy in their household lives, whether they are kids trying to enter kinder gardens or students cracking IIT's. Good memory means increased memory power. It is an ability to quickly understand what is being told or what is being explained and then reproducing the same exactly whenever required. Once analyzed and understood, storing it in files of brains and then recollecting data whenever required are the signs of good memory. People who can do this quickly and efficiently are told to have good memory power and the one who find themselves inefficient in doing the same, seems to lack memory power. During earlier times only aged individuals used to have a weak memory power. They seemed to forget everything around them. it was a sign of aging. However, today it is a common thing we see and it is no longer age related. We forget things very easily and later give it the name of carelessness. For hours together we keep ourselves busy in finding things which we have kept somewhere and are finding difficult to remember the exact location. Kids try to recollect the content they studied but fail to do so. Everyone wants an easy way out. Lots of medicines has been introduced in the market. These companies who sell medications for sharpening memory claim unexpected results within a given time. it all looks like a dream but reality is something else. As everyone wants an easy way out they get attracted to the ads they see and feel like trying these medicines so that they can sharpen their memory power. People are not even inspecting and analyzing how effective these medicines can be and are getting addicted to them. Such medicines are not at all cheap. They are quite expensive. In spite of being charged high, these medicines are been purchased more and more and as demand is high, more and more such companies are entering in market to reap financial benefits. Medicals today are flooded with such medicines who claim to increase memory power magically. A person does not even require prescription to obtain such medicines. In various book stalls, one can find hundreds of books which claim to increase memory power. Lots of centers have been opened which claim to sharpen memory by coaching people. If checked on internet, lots of websites are available which claim the same. All these medicines, tips given in books and websites, coaching given in centers are beneficial or not is a matter of later discussion. Most important thing is people are not even aware whether they are really suffering from such disorder or not. They do not analyze their condition properly. If someone is  finding difficulty to remember things and events they feel like it is because of their weak memory power. It may also be due to carelessness. It may be a myth that they may be suffering from weak memory. Weak memory is not one where we forget birthday's of our friends and relatives. Weak memory is when we wish them the same every week. Weak memory is not when we forget the jokes we need to crack. Weak memory is when we crack the same jokes over and over again every day. We often compare ourselves with others and thereby complain that we have less memory power than others. A laymen can increase his memory by adopting certain techniques of remembering things. All such books and all such websites which claim to drastically improve memory are full of nothing but tips and techniques to remember more and more. These techniques help people remember number, names, things i.e., it provides a proper format which helps in remembering everything easily. Once remembering becomes easy, people start feeling as if there is a drastic advancement in their memory power. They are unaware that they are using simple techniques which are helping them in their day to day lives. For example, when we meet a person try to analyze and come across some special feature of that person that may be in his physical appearance or the way he communicates etc..... and then relate his name with his special feature. Or else, once that person has introduced himself, repeat his name and try to ask him whether you have pronounced his name properly. This will help one to remember names of people they come across in their day to day lives. Another technique of remembering name is to utter the name of that person again and again during conversation. Some of us may not be very keen in using such tips and techniques as we find it time consuming and tiring. We need quick results which greatly and efficiently increase our memory power. Thus, some of us for quick solutions incline towards memory power increasing medications. These medicines claim to sharpen weak memory within a certain duration and some of them even guarantee money back, if desired results are not obtained. It is still not proved how effective these medicines can be. However, their side effects have definitely come into light. Efficient or not is yet to be discovered but the ill-effects they exert on body have come into light in the form of side-effects. Vitamin B and Vitamin E are essential to increase brain power. However, in traces it will not do any good. Excess of dosage is required to sharpen memory and heavy doses taken in form of medication has worsened the situation as high dose of Vitamin E thins blood and can be fatal. This is because it increases internal blood loss. With progressing age, memory too fades away. It is natural and not an issue on which one has to get threatened. Brain has a very important area called as frontal lobe. It is responsible for recollecting memories stored in other areas of brain as well as helps to remember events along with names and dates. With age, it's efficiency of working decreases. It's efficiency to recollect data from other parts of brain too decreases. This is the reason that with age, memory power fades. In certain cases, situation worsens. Too much worst condition can result in Alzheimer's disease. Main cause of Alzheimer's disease is any stimulus that exerts ill-effects on central nervous system. It may be a medication taken for reducing stress or medication for keeping blood pressure within control. Excess consumption of alcohol and other such addictions which exert negative effects on brain are also responsible for causing Alzheimer's disease. People often mistake their situation with Alzheimer. There is a whole lot of difference between forgetting a few things and almost remembering nothing. Sharp, efficient memory is essential to excel in any field. Sharp memory yields excellent results. Instead of falling prey and becoming addicted to such medicines and spending thousands of amount on purchasing books, becoming members of websites or joining coaching to increase memory, it's beneficial to work on oneself. Most important thing to be kept in mind that for increasing memory power, concentration is essential. One needs to concentrate on things they have to analyze or remember in long run. Concentration is the key factor. There is no short cut or a master key that can sharpen memory power overnight. Sheer efforts, lots of concentration, complete dedication can only yield fruitful benefits.

Reena created new article Tackle Summer Heat.
As summer season arrives in most part of the country, it brings with it killer heat which everyone finds difficult to cope with. Every year it becomes a part of concern as every year its duration as well as intensity keeps increasing. Rainy season approaches late and thus people have to bear with summer time for a longer period. Rain is becoming scanty in most part of the earth. Though it brings a relief from scorching sun rays and cools the environment but scanty rainfall again has become a matter of concern and posing a difficulty and raising a question regarding survival of life on earth. Deforestation and global warming are the main reasons because of which one has to face intense heat not only in summers but even during rest of the year. However, during summer all the records get broken and degrees of temperature rises to unexpected and unbearable levels. Earlier only certain areas of our country like Rajasthan were known to be unbearable during summers as it falls in rain shadow area and receives very less amount of rain making summers very difficult to bear. However, today there is a whole different scenario. Almost all the states have become unbearable in summers when the sun is on full throttle. Most of us during summers go for a vacation on hill stations so that we can escape the heat of the plains at least for a few days. Though the weather is pleasant over there but there too every year temperature is rising. Evenings and early mornings are pleasant and temperature falls down during nights but throughout the day one can see sufficient amount of heat even on hill stations. Summer And Sweating Mechanism:- Summer heat can kill a person if care is not taken. Thus, we can see thousands of shelter-less people who cannot tolerate the heat of scorching sun, pass away. Coping ability with heat depends on health of an individual. If he is healthy, he will be able to bear with the heat and if he is not healthy and does not take proper care, he may lend into serious trouble. Our bodies sweat when the temperature rises and this is because it is trying to maintain its temperature. Though we often complain of stickiness and furious sweating but it is a mechanism by which body cools down itself. Numerous blood vessels are present in our skin. Rise of temperature outside also rises temperature of body. Brain sends a signal which causes dilation of blood vessels. Dilation results in increase in blood flow towards surface. More and more amount of fluids are supplied and as a result we sweat. This sweat when comes in contact with warm air outside gets evaporated and body temperature decreases as it cools the surface. Fluid Intake During Summers:- During summers, most of the people suffer from dehydration and get admitted to the hospital. Furious sweating during summer uses up lots of body fluids and thus one has to take care to replenish the lost fluid at the earliest. One has to drink more and more amount of water at frequent intervals along with fruit juices, coconut water and even glucose water for some energy. Carelessness to drink enough water can make a person face certain serious consequences. One should not wait to drink water until he is thirsty. Thirst cannot be kept as an indicator during summers. Sports person require more water as lots of body fluids is lost during exercising. Sports drink are also good as along with water they also replenish lost sodium content. Alcohol should be completely avoided. Caffeinated drinks also should be best avoided during summers. Alcohol, caffeinated drinks all result in excess of loss of water. Food Intake During Summers:- Food taken during summer should be light, if one wishes to avoid constipation. Since summer is the time when one drinks more amount of water and other fluids, digestion will definitely get interfered because of excess of fluid consumption and the food will remain in stomach for a prolonged time resulting in bloating and heaviness. One should always prefer small meals which mainly constitute of fruits and vegetables which are high in water content. Proteins and fat causes increased heat production. Thus, digestive system needs to work hard for its break down and also results in increased amount of loss of water. Care To Tackle Summer:- During summers, it is best to avoid to go outdoors, especially one should try his best to avoid after noon heat and stay indoors. Air-conditioning is a great relief but in its absence electric fans can also provide some sort of relief. One should take care and try not to sit in an enclosed space as heat builds up over there very quickly. One has to take advantage of early mornings and evenings in summer when the temperature decreases to some amount to cool their homes. When the temperature outside is less, doors and windows should we opened so that the warm air present inside house escapes and cool air enters inside which will ultimately cool down temperature of house and make summer nights bearable. Cool shower twice or thrice a day also seems to provide great relief in summers especially a quick shower before bed time will ensure a good night sleep and freedom from whole days stickiness. Do not open windows and door when the temperature outside is unbearable especially during noon. During such times, make use of drapes and blinds to keep house dark and cool. High Risk Individuals:- Unhealthy individuals like diabetics, patients suffering from lungs, kidney and heart related disorders, patients suffering from circulatory disorders, high blood pressure patients are at high risk during summers. Even obese individuals along with old aged individuals will find great discomfort in coping with summers. Great care has to be taken in case of infants and toddlers during summers. Certain drugs like anti-histamines, sedatives, diuretics etc..... does not allow perspiration which is a matter of great concern for patients taking them regularly as sweating is essential to decrease body temperature and in its absence body temperature can rise up to expected level resulting in critical situations. Health Related Issues Associated With Summer:- Summer brings with it lots of other troubles too. As skin constantly gets sweaty, red rashes develop over it. These rashes can be itchy and pose a problem when comes in constant friction with rubbing of clothes. Similarly, summer acne is another issue people usually suffer from. To get rid of rashes and acne, try to remain in a cool atmosphere and keep body as much clean, cool and dry as possible. Prickly heat powders available in markets provide a great relief as they soak up the extra moistness and keeps body dry and free from micro-organisms. We usually see people fainting or suffering from lightheadedness and this is all because of excess exposure of oneself to the scorching heat of summer sun and also dehydration is another cause. Thus, try to expose to sun as little as possible and keep body completely hydrated and fresh. To get relief from summer heat, we usually gulp down a full bottle of icy cold water, cold-drinks etc..... within a few seconds. This much of low temperature pushed down in one's stomach is not good. This usually causes cramps. One has to drink cold water or other sorts of cold drinks but it should be that icy-cold which instead of benefiting us is making a harm to our body and health. If one notices difficulty in breathing or fatigueness, one should immediately seek medical help. Precautions To Be Taken During Summer:- During summers, avoid exposure to sun during hottest hours and if one cannot avoid them then take complete precautions like wearing a hat or covering head with some cloth so that heat does not get absorbed. Always carry an umbrella, preferably a black one as it absorbs excess heat and keep us protected and away from heat. Wear light colored cotton clothes. Avoid wearing clothes made from other synthetic materials. Clothes should not fit very tightly as during summers it is essential we allow our skin to breathe. Always apply suitable sunscreen lotions or creams at least half an hour before exposing one self to sun to all the exposed areas of body. This prior application will make sure that sunscreen has been well absorbed in the skin causing less harm and good protection from sun rays. In fact, expose body parts as little as possible. This will avoid darkening or sun-tanning. Avoid doing heavy weight lifting exercises or strenuous work during summers. Always carry water or sport drinks if one has to go outside. Seek medical help if one has reached the stage of heat exhaustion or heat stroke. But if proper care is taken, one will not reach a stage of heat stroke. Proper care will ensure minimal trouble ensuring no health related issues and help a person to spend his summer pleasantly without much botheration.
