usha manohar created new topic The Inside Story of Nehru, Gandhi and Patel.
There have been many theories on why Nehru was chosen as the Prime Ministerial candidate and not Sardar Vallab Bhai Patel who was equally capable...This article throws light on some of the facts that made Gandhi choose Nehru instead of Patel ! The most relevant reason seems to have been apprehension as to what Nehru would do if he was prevented from becoming the Prime Minister ..The arm twisting tactics of The Family continues to this day !

Those who earn by doing some useful work are far less in number.
There is a saying in Sanskrit, " Dhanam Moolam Idham Jagat." Means, entire world stands and thrives on Dhanam, that is Money. In English too there is a saying, "Money Makes Many things."

Madam your hatred for Congress colors your views. My reference to shifting humour was in continuation of the earlier posts that humour is required and you only had written that a member has shifted his stand. Where is the question of casting aspersions on the divine leader.

Shaking head sideways while agreeing to a proposal is a famous Indian style which is well documented in business negotiation tips by foreigner trainers. As Indians we should not have this problem though.

Great to know that you have first hand experience of Hong Kong which has a large variety of foods to offer and elegant dining places too.
True, we were there after the British handed over and the period before China actually took over ..Hong Kong then was a multi cultural society that had a lot to offer.. Lots of Indians bought houses and apartments at that period since property prices had come down and later sold it for huge profits. Food of course was in great variety , catering to all kinds of taste and budget ..
as you said you visited HONG KONG.. do you have any problem in conversation with local people..
Majority of the people are Chinese but English is spoken widely and it is not at all a problem to get on there since there are people from all over the world and many Indians living there for generations ..

Old habits die hard ...
Coming back to the topic I have seen many foreigners getting confused by the head shaking habit of the Indians ..One can never be sure whether they are saying yes or no. In fact I get confused here too, why not say things verbally rather than shake and nod and make things difficult and complicated !!!!

If people can have unshakable trust in failed, tainted, scam ridden leaders , why should anyone shift views on someone who is doing the best he can under the circumstances in such a short period of time ?

Of course people have different ideas as to what success means, for some it is goal attainment, for some it is having lots of money and wealth, could be that was their goal to begin with and so on.. but when one says successful life it is much deeper than that because many things need to be considered
Satisfied person is happy person and he is also success person. If some claim that his life is success it mean he/she is satisfied with family job, society
True, but again satisfaction, happiness and success are all temporary since change is the essence of life and the only permanent factor in life .

After all, what Ram Baboo can do by adopting any wrong means. Just get Rs. 50/- a week or Rs. 8/- per day.
It was not Rambaboo alone but other baboo and Vashnavi who had no points on last Sunday but then they clicked their way within half an hour and reached to 4th and 5th spot leaving Anil and Vijai way behind.

RO technology was perhaps developed for obtaining water from sea water free of salt and other minerals. It is widely used in many island tourist destinations and some West Asian countries who can afford the high cost of purification. In Indian houses such high degree of purification is not needed and money should not be wasted. simple filters are usually adequate.
I agree with you, there is no need of such purification process in Indian houses, as water comes from wells is not contaminated of harmful chemicals and viruses. Just use simple filters and boil before drinking. But Indians have started installing R.O. machines at their home by seeing others having installed R.O. at their home. Most of the public is not aware about R.O. system.

Humor is a way of expression. But here I feel that there is some fun arsing out of shifting views of some member. This is rally more funny and ridiculous rather than humor.

If government can not control the prices then let it not sermonise. At least here they can not blame the communal, corrupt, UPA. It is also mighty surprising that some members feel that TV media is responsible for inducing price rises by showing it. Buyers can not be so naïve.
