One of the world's best museums and greatest mineral museum in a small town Sinnar, approximately 32 km from Nasik city, has been awarded 'Pride of India'. This museum was founded by Mr Krishna Kumar Pandey, who is a retired officer from ex- merchant navy.
The museum is famous for its huge collection of zeolites. These zeolites have breathtaking colors and are very fragile in nature. These zeolites have a prosperous and a very well defined structure like diamonds. Their micro permeable crystalline structure allows is to appear as a huge diamond.
At the museum, there is a huge statue of Mother India that has been placed near the entrance to welcome the visitors to this pride of India. Just above the statue is a map that depicts the drifting of the Indian Subcontinent. When the visitors walks through the first floor, they come across 1700 types of zeolites. All these zeolites are very rare and intricate. All the zeolites are unique in some way or the other and appear to ooze positive energy in the museum.
In between you will come across many attention grabbing works of art from various parts of the world. The galleries have been divided into two namely, The Prestige Gallery and Minerals from the Deccan Plateau. These natural beauties are in their raw form, making a gratifying atmosphere in the museum.
This pride of India - Gargoti museum, is the only museum in the world that exhibits the mineral treasures of the earth. Do not be surprised as the visitors will get to see a piece of rock from the Moon in its treasury. The treasury includes rocks of various shapes and color, crystals and minerals of various colors. You will find green cubical apophyllite, cut stones, yellow calcites, diamonds, cavansite and few alien rocks displayed among the stones.
