Cricket is a passion in our country and so are movies. Either we idolize a cricketer or a film star or sometimes even both. The point is who is a bigger hero, the cricketer or film star.
Both the cricketer and film star have a huge fan following and give exceptional performances, but I would like to rate a cricketer higher for the following reasons:-
Cricketer or any sports star performs in live situations:- A cricketer has to perform in real life situations, he has only a fraction of a second to think and he has to take a decision based on his instinct or available skills at that point of time. If he succeeds he is a hero, if he fails he is a villain. Let us take the example of Chetan Sharma, even today he is remembered for that last ball six which cost India the match, though he has won umpteen number of matches for his country, before and after that incident, including that glorious hatrick, the first in World Cup History.
Film Stars and Retakes:- Even if the film star fails to get his dialogues, actions or emotions right, he can always have any number of retakes. Only after all retakes are found satisfactory, we see it on screen. A film star is given a chance to correct himself, which a cricketer does not have, because his first mistake could be his last mistake.
Wider Audience for Sports Stars- While a movie star and sports star have got wide fan following, a sport star has to cater to a wider and uncompromising international audience and cannot afford to make a fool of himself or villain in front of everybody. A sportstar knows that he is performing live in front of thousands of people and millions all over the world matching live, whereas a film star has the luxury of performing in front of a few hundred people only at the time of actual shooting.
