The lands with scanty rainfall result in larger areas of land being converted into grasslands. Grass is the primary resource of the region. They do not trees have trees. The grasslands of U.S.A called as prairies are the examples of such lands.
These lands of U.S.A stretch across central Canada and central U.S.A. these lands lie between the tropic of cancer and the Arctic Circle. The Mississippi and the Missouri are the two rivers that pass through these Prairies. The important city in this region is Chicago.
The climate of this land helps in the growth of grass but trees. The rainfall in these lands ranges from moderate to low. In these grasslands, summers are moderately hot and winter is cold. In these lands, there is snowfall in winter.
Because of the scanty rainfall, only the natural vegetation like grass, shrubs etc, grow here. Grass grows plenty in these areas. That location is very beauty to see very happy to the heart.
Grasslands of this type exist in other zones of the world. They are called differently in different parts of the world. They are called Pampas in South America, steppes in Eurasia, welds in South Africa and Downs in Australia.
Grasslands are situated between the latitudes 5-20 degree and between 30 -45degree on either side of the equator. Eurasia, north America, Argentina, south America., south Africa, Central Africa and south – eastern Australia in this region.
The prairies are rich in bisons, cows, goats, sheep and other grazing animals. The grass lands where the animals graze are called as ranches.
