Life as various aims for various people. To some, life is an empty dream with out a motive. They eat and drink and continue to exit for the sake of living. They have no ideal, no mission for which to struggle and fight. Their ideal is to eat well, to make marry and enjoy the material things of life. All their activities are aimed at amassing wealth by hook or by crook, and using that wealth for the sake of luxury, comfort and pleasures.
Life is, however, not so easy at present. Even to make for the sake of comforts and luxuries one had got to work hard and perform one’s social duties before the society can allow one to earn lot of money and amass wealth. Modern states work under certain principal of social behavior and do not allow people to go about making money with out caring to perform certain duties, which are useful to society. A business man or an industrialist must pay his workers well so that the labor does its duty honestly and diligently and enable the enterpriser to make profit from the goods produced.
Modern life as made living complicated. It needs to be well planned if one wants to achieve any thing worth while. Whether one’s mission or ideal is materialistic or spiritual one has got to plan. To make life worth living one must work hard to words the object of one’s mission. A life with out mission is a life lost. A life with out planning is a life wasted. Discipline, mission and hard work are important virtues of a successful man.
A successful public man has to be a qualified administrator who can fight out practical issues with the authorities and win practical benefits for the people.
The art of living implies a healthy development of the mind, the body and the intellect.
When you do a certain thing over and over again it becomes a habit. Even the most difficult jobs can become easy through sheer habit.
It is necessary for all of us to develop as many good habits as we can. This will help us to lead a good and useful life, to become responsible citizens.
There are certain points which must be kept in mind if one wishes to acquire good habits.
*will power
You must have the will power to do a thing, no matter how tough the task may be. Will power makes you work hard until you succeed. If you want to do well in the exams, you must have will power to gain confidence.
*Failure
Failure and success go hand in hand in man’s life. Do not be disheartened. Failure is the sure way to success. Failure helps you to develop tenacity.
*Try again
If at first you don’t succeed, try and try again. Yes, only by making several attempts at the task can you be successful. This is called perseverance.
*Regularity
You must work at the task in a regular and organized fashion. This way there will not be any confusion and you will learn where exactly you have gone wrong.
*Begin today
Tomorrow never comes, so they say. So, if you want to do some work, start right mow. Don’t postpone it. A habit, once formed, becomes a part of life. That is how cigarette smoking, chewing paan or to tobacco, or drinking alcohol also becomes a part of life. The first time you do any of these things; it may not be either easy or pleasant. But if you constantly do it, it becomes a regular habit. But these are bad habits. So always try to imbibe good habits.
*Once you have acquired a bad habit, it is very difficult to get rid of it. But you must try to do so. When your mind is disturbed and distracted, you try to bring it under control. This called restraint. It is easy to a swim in still waters. But it is difficult to swim against the current. Getting rid of a bad habit is like swimming against the current.
Make good habits a part of your life. Rise early, make good friends, be simple, study regularly, speak politely, don’t use harsh words, listen to the advice of elders. These are some other good habits to inculcate.
