India is now a free country. She became free of 15, August, 1947. Gandhi fought bravely like a soldier for India’s freedom for many years. At last he made his country free in 1947. He is, therefore, called ``The father of the nation’’.
Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was the first prime minister of India. He was flower of Mahatma Gandhi.
Truth, nonviolence and peace were his swords.
Gandhi loved truth and Ahimsa all his life. He never told lie. At school, he always tried to speak the truth. He always tried to be at school on time. He always tried to do his lessons well.
Gandhi tried to help Harijans all his life. He always fought for their rights. Harijans have now the same rights as others. All people are now equal in the eyes of the government. Gandhi was a great friend of the poor and the down-trodden. He loved them as much as he his won flesh and blood. He always tried to help them the most. He wanted to root out all evils in the country. He wanted to set Ram Rajya in the country. His chief mission was to `Wipe every tear from every eye’.
He was born in Porbandar. He was a very simple man. His dress was short dhoti and upper one khandva. He was lived in Sabaramati Ashram.
Gandhi knew that India was a poor country. He tried to make her a great country in the world. He tried to make her rich and strong. He lived, worked and died for mother India.
`` Gandhi was the greatest and noblest son of mother India. He was one of the world’s greatest men. Yet this noblest son of India was shot dead by one of his own countrymen, Nathuram Godse. Gandhi was going to the prayer meeting when the suddenly fired at him. Gandhi fell down, murmuring the words ~He Ram’, and the next movement he was dead. His death was great loss to the nation. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru said, ``The light has gone out our lives and there is darkness everywhere. The sun of our lives has set for ever’’. Gandhi is not dead; he still lives in the hearts of millions. Let us be worthy of him.
