“What is that? Behind that broken large stone?” my colleague asked.
“Dunno bro. Looks like a wooden box. Let’s see” I said and proceed to the object. My colleague followed me.
It was a wooden box covered with thousand year old dust. We cleaned and opened the box carefully. There was a manuscript inside, made from tree skin thousands of years before. Something is written in the script with reddish black ink, possibly animal blood. The manuscript is in a very good condition considering its age. Maybe the dry weather of this region and the airtight box protected it from being degraded.
“Send this to lab. See if they can understand the writings on this. it will be a breakthrough success in our life my friend!” I exclaimed.
“Ya, archeological society will be so proud of us. After all the society was looking for it for the past 10 years.” my colleague replied, holding the box in his hand. “I will return in the hotel after sending this to lab” he said and stepped outside the temple.
I returned to the hotel. I was tired from the stress. I am a scientist and I work for the national museum. 3 days ago, archeological society found the temple deep inside the forest. The temple was hidden from the human eye for so many days because of the dense forest. Recent satellite imagery of the forest for search of natural resources reveled its existence. We were sent to investigate what’s in there, and we found that this is the secret temple of Vedic age which had numerous mentions in other ancient objects which our museum has found in past. But the temple itself was undiscovered; hence archeological society was trying to find the temple for many years, but could not find it anywhere, until now of course!
The temple is an archive of ancient scripts and spells. Most of the scripts we found are ancient spells/chants for the Gods. But this script in the box was hidden behind a large stone. It seems that someone wanted to keep it hidden from the world. We could find it only because the large stone covering it broke due to ageing. Anyways we will be sure when the experts in the lab decode the writings on the script.
A week passed. But the top experts in our lab could not understand the meaning of the writings. The language is early Sanskrit. But the writing does not have any meaning. It seems that someone has written some random sounds with Sanskrit which can be read but the meaning is not clear. Unlike the spells which is used to worship Gods, this script does not have a complete slokas or meaningful sentence, only four pages full of random sounds.
Finally we decided to record the complete spell and email the audio file to all of our archeological society members across the country. Someone must know the meaning, I thought.
Recording of the spell began at 7PM in the evening. A very senior member of our society, who has very good knowledge on Sanskrit and having a perfect Sanskrit accent started to read the script in front of the recorders. I waited outside the recording room, holding the box in which the script was preserved.
Suddenly I noticed the inner side of the lid of the box. Something is written there too. We did not notice this writing before. I rushed to the lab with the box. Some experts were working on the other objects which we found in the temple. I gave the box to one of them and asked “Can you please let me know what is written in the box?”
He studied the lid for about 10 minutes and said “It’s written that this is the spell to destroy all creations”.
“What?” I fainted.
“Yes. It is written that this is the script which Gods use to destroy all creations. Do you know about ‘mahapralaya’, the destruction of all the creations? It is written that this script will be spelt by the Gods to destroy all creation when time will come”.
I rushed to the recording room and broke into the room. The senior member said “Recording is complete. You can send the file to everyone now”.
I fainted. I rushed to the terrace for some fresh air. I looked up to the evening sky.
The Stars are disappearing very fast one by one from the sky.
