After few months from now, this day will come as every guy or gal, who is in love, waits for . It's V-Day, the day I dread the most. It's that time of the year when love is in the air, heart-shaped balloons are everywhere and roses are sold for the price of gold ! No, i'm not anti-valentine, it's just singles like me are made to feel like losers by the mighty media; as if being single alone on V-Day is a punishable offence, soon to be listed under Sec. 512 of the Indian Penal Code.
One year you decide with your pals that you'll be together every V-Day. No matter who you are with or rather, not with. Next year, the only ones you live up to the promise, are the ones who aren't hooked up yet. Isn't that what Valentine's Day is all about? Lack of attitude, selfish expectations and strained bank balances? What do you want more presents for? Were you hibernating all through Christmas? This is the story or scenario every time.
Today, Valentine's Day has the lovesick of the world coming to a collective consensus on acting like buffoons on the same day. "No matter I just met a girl on February 12th. It's V-Day and the heck.. I have to be in love! So why not go scare the hell out of this girl, who probably hasn't ever noticed that I exist and confess my undying love for ..uh... excuse me... What's your name?"
Frankly, it's kind of funny, this whole V-Day thing. I've seen love struck couples go hand-in-hand, heard about their break-ups a month later and i have realized the futility of it all. And i just abhor all that crap about the magic floating around you, your first crush, your true love.. and everything else that makes me want to put my middle finger in my throat and puke !!!
So, some people use this day to remind their loved ones how much they mean to them. Yet others use it to get rejected by the boy/girl of their dreams. Again, but then why not just do all that on any other day? I guess because we are all just a bunch of puppets at the mercy of Hallmark.
