Govind was once travelling through a forest. The sky was overcast with thick, black clouds. Soon it started raining heavily. There was thunder and lightning with all rounds. Govind ran towards a big tree to protect him from the rain. He stood under the big tree.
``Govind, Govind! Where are you?’’ Govind heard a faint voice.
Govind looked around. But he saw none. ``Govind, Govind! Do your hear me?’’ the voice called again.
Govind thought it strange that someone should call him right in the middle of the forest. He paused for a while. After sometime he heard the voice again. Now it was loud and clear. Govind ran in the direction of the voice.
Hardily had Govind gone a short distance away from the tree, when lightening flashed and struck the tree? The tree fell down with a crash.
`Had I been under the tree, I would have been killed,’ Govind said to himself. He thanked the unknown voice for saving his life now; he decided to find out who had called him. Just then, he again heard the voice calling his name. After walking for a while in the direction of the voice, he saw an old woman standing at the door of her hut.
``Did you call me?’’ asked Govind.
``Who are you? Why should I call you/’’ asked the woman.
``I am Govind, I heard you call my name,’’ said Govind.
``Oh! I was calling my son, Govind. He has gone out to collect wood,’’ said the puzzled woman.
``But when you called, I came out from under that tree,’’ Govind pointed to the fallen tree.
``God is great! It was he who made me call my son so loudly,’’ said the old woman.
``Certainly,’’ said Govind gratefully. He knelt down to thank God for saving his life.
Yes, God is great and kind. He protects us from danger. He guides our steps. We must trust him. We must pray to him to Guide our thoughts and deeds in the right direction.
God in his heaven shall care for you.
