Dont we go about creating invisible cages around us and tune our behaviour so that we can fit in. Isnt all this so because we are afraid we would lose some comforts we have today? It's in a way a sort of addiction - an addiction to comfort - the fear of losing which is making us do these circus acts - that is live within the limits - social, physical whatever that may be.
Interesting points you guys assert here - that creativity maxes when there are limits. Look at the amazingly complex games and programs written when we only had microprocessors with limited memory and clock speed. When that limit went away, there is bad, bloated code now. People thrive when limited - limited time - deadlines - look at what magic they can do - all the practical inventions during world wars.
Now that doesnt mean we cannot simulate these limits - in time or resources - sometimes people do this - for eg - a movie with no dialogues or a song with no instruments.
Again, knowing the limits is a good thing so that we dont waste time trying to do the impossible - given the circumstances. Maybe that's only possible through trial and error and maybe good things will happen as a by product
