We are into 2010 and yet it is another New Year for us. Lot of things have changed in the world in which we live in over the years. While some things have become totally extinct like typewriters, radios and rickshaws for they have been replaced by something more modern that people do not feel the necessity to go back and use them. However there are still some things which have not become extinct and still retain their significance though in a much smaller way. A couple of things which have still retained their significance though in small measure are Manual Greetings Cards and Sarees.
Manual Greeting Cards have never lost its charm:- The only mode of sending a greeting few years back was through manual greeting cards. However with the passage of e cards and sms greetings have been preferred over manual greeting cards and the reason for that is very simple. While a person had to take out time to search for a manual card, pay for it and then write down addresses, buy stamps and post an ecard can be sent in a few seconds to hundreds of recipients in a few seconds. While ecards have numerous advantages over manual greeting cards, manual cards have not become extinct altogether as still it is the most preferred one if the recipient is special one like a beloved one or a valued customer who is very important to your organization. While nobody bothers to see a e card for a second time, Manual greeting cards however simple and ordinary they are seen again and again preserved for years and sometimes even decades. There are people who look at greeting cards which was sent many years back for it gives them very fond memories of the sender. Manual greetings have still managed to retain its charm though there is a lot of inconvience attached to it from procuring to posting it.
Sarees and Half Sarees are still worn and retain the same charm:- In India half sarees and sarees used to worn by girls and women till a few years back. In most cases girls preferred to wear half sarees and sarees because they liked them and knew that they looked good in them and in cases where girls were unwilling to wear sarees they were made to wear them by their parents who themselves wore traditional dresses With life becoming fast paced, modern dresses have been preferred over saris for the sake of convenience. Another reason is that women these days do not have spare time to drape a sari because they reach home late after a long working day and by the time they finish of with their dinner and television viewing it is late in the night. Invariably they get up late and in all likelihoold are woken by a alarm because they do not get sufficient time to sleep. Once they get up with hardly any time for make ups, they have to fit into a dress which is easy to wear and convenient enough to move around fast so as to reach their offices on time. Even for girls who are not working it is the same problem because by the time they retire to bed, it is quite late after having spent hours on mobile or Internet and by the time they get up they find themselves in a hurry to catch a bus to college. While sarees are not worn in the same regularity, the good thing is that saris and half saris are still the most preferred dresses for women especially in functions. There are some girls who make it a point to wear saris only on the rarest of rare occasions, so as to ensure that they look more special than ever before.
Sarees and Greetings Cards have always had a special place in the hearts of people and will continue to do so even in changing times.
