If we are trying to get in touch with a person to speak to him, then mobile is the first choice for many of us. Many of us in our eagerness to speak to the person keep on dialing the number continuously without bothering to analyze why a person is not picking a call. The following reasons should be considered before repeatedly trying the person on his mobile phone.
Driving a vehicle or walking on road:- A person may not be picking up mobile because he may be driving a vehicle. The chances of a the person meeting with an accident are more if he has to hurry up and pick up his cellphone from the pocket in case he gets repeated calls for he thinks it is a panic call and has to attend in a hurry. A person walking on the road too is subject to the same risk of attending the phone especially if it is a wide road with too many vehicles and requires lot of concentration and patience to cross.
Executives in top level meetings:-There are occasions when a person has to sit in a top level meeting with top executives. The unofficial rule is that calls should not be attended to in top level meetings because of shortage of time. Too much of speaking is also considered bad manners in high level meetings. Silence is one of the primary requirements in top meetings. If a person does not pick a call then we should try to understand that the person is prohibited from doing so.
A person hurriedly on way to railway station:-A person would be in a hurry to reach the railway station. If the person gets repeated calls on his mobile, the person in his anxiety to pick the call, may forget to take his ticket. It is also possible that the person may forgot to pick up some important things like money; documents or clothes while packing his bags and is bound to be inconvenienced after reaching the destination. With most of the big cities being over crowded every second is crucial and the person could well miss the train unable to reach the station on time having wasted a few minutes in answering calls. It is also possible that the person running short of time to reach the railway station may push harder trying to drive the vehicle more fast and may meet with an accident.
Counting notes in banks or filling forms at railway counter:-A person could be in bank counting notes and there is every possibility of him miscounting while he is answering a call. There is also a possibilitythat somebody may snatch money while he is counting. It could also happen that he may lose money on the way while concentrating on answering the call in a hurry. Another possibility is that the person may fill up a wrong account number and the money will be credited into somebody's account. Similarly in railway counters a person might lose his concentration and book a wrong ticket.
Answering mobile calls are prohibited in hospitals and petrol bunks:- Attending calls on cellphones are prohibited in hospitals as it interferes with the computer signals. If a person gets repeated calls on his mobile he may think there is some urgency and attend to the call therefore putting his own life and that of others in danger.
Receiving a confidential call at the wrong place or wrong time:- When you are making a confidential call to a person he may not pick up the call because he possibly could be at the wrong place or the wrong time. The person whom you are expecting too pick up your call could be with somebody else who should not be listening to your conversation or about your deal.
The person may be Sleeping or Sick while you are calling up:-Normally we think that all of us are supposed to sleep only at night but it is not so. A tired person could be sleeping at home even during morning or afternoon especially on holidays. It could also be possible that the person has taken leave and is taking rest at home. Repeated calls from your end could wake the person from his sleep. It is also possible that a person could be sick and very weak and not in a position to get up. Repeated calls from you force him to get up as he does not know how serious the call is. Therefore your call is a avoidable inconvenience to the person.
Private Time or Depressed state of mind:There are also times when a person is having a private time or is in a depressed state of mind and would not like to be disturbed. As a caller you do not know where he is and the state of mind he is, and your repeated calls at that juncture would be a huge inconvenience to the person.
We should always take the above factors into consideration before calling up a person repeatedly on his number because repeated calls could mean anything from inconvenience to possible loss of lives.
