This organ of the UN is located at The Hague in Holland.
The international court of justice is for all countries. It is also called the world court. It is the judicial organ of the UN. The court has its permanent headquarters at The Hague, Netherlands.
The court settles the international legal problems. The court consists of 15 judges, who are all from different countries. The judgers are elected by the assembly and the Security Council. It solves the disputes of the countries that more bought before this court. The tenure of each judge is nine years.
The functions of this court are to decide legal matters between members’ nations. It also advises the other organs of the UN on legal matters. But it must be mentioned here that its advice is not binding an organ.
The secretariat office is maintains the administration. It is an important organ of the UN. It handles day to day activities of the united nation. The actual staff of the UN makes up the secretariat. They are about 16000 in number. The head of the secretariat is called the secretary general. He acts as the united nation’s spokesperson. He is nominated by the Security Council and appointed by the general assembly for a term of five years. It is his duty report on the, working of the UN to the general assembly. He also reports on any matter which can destroy international peace. He is most powerful official in the UN. The secretariat is a part of the headquarters of the UN, which is located in New York.
*The trusteeship council was formed to look after the administration of those states which were not independent and were badly destroyed by the Second World War. There were about 11 such territories. But these territories have now become independent and have formed their own governments. The importance of the Trusteeship council has thus faded away.
