Rugby School is nothing but a private English secondary school, in Rugby,which is market town in Warwickshire,and it is located in the West Midlands of England, on the River Avon.This school was founded in 1567 and this is a free school for all the boys of that area, and this system was followed under the terms of the will of Mr. Lawrence Sheriff,who was a waelth a wealthy London grocer.
But the growth of the school was hindered, till 1653 by lawsuits between the founder's descendants and the masters and trustees.But aftre the problem was over the school has increased in size and importance, steadily.In this Rugby School,the most famous headmaster was the British educator called as Thomas Arnold and he was in charge of the school from the year 1828 to 1842.
Credit goes to him as he was responsible for the introduction program of physical, moral, and religious discipline,so that it couol be useful to train the character as well as the mind of the student. It was under his leadership Rugby school become one of the greatest of English private schools.
Apart from Arnold,there was headmaster during the 19th century and he was the British prelate Frederick Temple,but later became the archbishop of Canterbury.It was him who initiated an extensive program of modernization of the school buildings.
It was in 20th century,the Rugby School started to become the forefront of science education in Great Britain.Apart fom the science Education, the school also offers other courses which includes art history, design, politics, and Russian history.It was in 1976 Girls were first admitted in the school and later in 1993, during full coeducation system was followed in the Rugby School.
