Reminiscing old days when smiles on faces appeased,
When there was no need for ‘credit’ to fulfill dreams,
To behold nature, fend family were the chores,
Birds’ shrill songs entertained, where rivers through hills flowed;
Comforts were then focused, mind by affluence swooned,
Those carefree summer noons in front of eyes zoomed,
Fun filled evenings till early hours became strife,
With travels across seas, lost its value this life;
Winds then blew harsh, autumn leaves parched the heart,
Gold mines lay barren, black holes devoured reserves all,
Winter came with thud, feet exposed to icicles,
The blanket size was strained, its folds split at extremes;
Avalanche of avarice struck, crooning birds slayed,
Rivers strayed, pebbles were sprayed, boulders made their way,
Dreams of egocentric self into ire melted,
‘Stretch your feet till the sheets let’ finally made sense.
