Words have power that can change our whole life. Words can change our character, our relationships, our businesses and our entire belief systems. Words are with us every moment we live. In addition to what we hear from others or what we read from books or what we experience from the visual media, the words have become what we create ourselves and the way we interact with the people around us. Words influence us in our every breath; sometimes they encourage us with thrilling events and other times they make us cry by bringing tears into our eyes.
Expressions of Thoughts
Thoughts are the vibrations created by our consciousness and they affect our way of life, our behavior and power of expression. The mental vibrations emanated from us create an atmosphere around us and the people in our proximity will be affected by it. Sometimes you might have felt depressed or unhappy in the presence of some people. It is due to the negative thought vibrations transmitted from those persons. At other times you might have felt excited, happy and inspired due to the positive vibrations of the people. So we should always be careful to control our thoughts and emanate positive energy that will inspire the people around us.
Words are actually the expressions of our thoughts, even though we are not aware about it. Thoughts are created by our consciousness based on our knowledge, our position in the universe and our feelings at that particular moment. We are the products of our thoughts and our thoughts are the resultant of the food we eat, the way we live and the relaxation we experience. For the thoughts to become reality, they have to transform into words. If great scientists like Albert Einstein or Isaac Newton had not expressed their wonderful thoughts, the world would have been in the depth of darkness filled with ignorance!
Words and Reactions
Thousands of words come out from us every day in the form of opinions, casual talk or judgments. Most of the occasions, words come out from us naturally, just like we breathe, without consciously thinking about what we should say or what we are saying. Normally, we do not think about the effects our words will produce on the people around us. But depending on our nature, character and intelligence we speak spontaneously to respond to the situations. A word spoken cannot be taken back irrespective of whether it is good or bad. Hence we should be very careful in expressing our thoughts and words.
Words have such a great power that they can change our relationships in personal life and business. Every word is an action that conveys energy and some specific message, and produces an effect in a person or in the world. It can be positive or negative. A word produced by us will not die without producing its effect. As per the law prevailing in the nature, we will get the reaction soon or later. Good words of kindness will create a warm and comfortable reaction. The words have emotions attached to it and the reaction of the person will be lighter or stronger depending on the emotions and the message conveyed by our words.
Successful persons control their words rather than allowing the words control them. They will be conscious at every moment and will be in a position to control their thoughts and words. Positive words of love, encouragement, affirmation and appreciation will create better relationships and a life filled with confidence.
Effects of Words in our Brain
After their innovative research, prominent neuroscientist Dr.Andrew Newberg and Mark Robert Waldman have revealed in their famous book “Words Can Change Your Brain” that words have the power to alter the expression of human genes that control the physical and emotional stress. Positive and optimistic words stimulate the frontal lobe activity and improve the cognitive function of brain. They boost the motivational areas of the brain into action. At the same time a negative word will activate the fear center of the brain, called amygdala, releasing a number of neurotransmitters and stress-producing hormones that interrupt the functioning of brain, affecting its logic, language and reasoning capabilities. In response to our thoughts, feelings and conscious words, the structure of thalamus of the brain will change that will affect the way we perceive reality.
Habitual Vocabulary
We have a habit of using some words consistently to describe our emotions. These words constitute our habitual vocabulary. English language contains more than one million words. Out of the one million English words, about 3000 words are used to describe emotions, two-third of which describes negative emotions. An average person’s working vocabulary consists of about 2000 words or more. And surprisingly, our habitual vocabulary consists of only around 200-300 words.
It is a fact that if we consciously change the words we habitually use to describe our emotions, it will immediately change our way of life by changing the way we think and the way we feel. But, usually we use short cuts, and use the same words repeatedly in different occasions. We forget the fact that if we consciously select the right words, we can lower the intensity of negative experiences and increase the pleasure of positive experiences.
Relevance of Words in Social Media
Search Engines focus on organizing words that contain in the sources of information like articles, ads, videos, images, and many more. We can see the importance of selection and organizing of the keywords, its proper usage in a natural way by distributing in the title and the content. Search is a massive segment of the social media industry focused on the relevance of words, where they interact with us and interconnect the whole world within seconds.
What the Religions Say
Bible says: “In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” They have considered Word as God and even placed it before God.
Hindu scriptures begin with a sacred sound “Aum” pronounced as “Om”. It is not a word, but a sound, a mystic sound, that was said to be the sound of vibration in the beginning. Hindus consider the syllable “Aum” as the name of God, and the vibration of the Supreme. It represents the three elementary aspects of divine energy: creation, conservation and destruction.
Conclusion
Word has amazing power. It was there from the beginning. Word is sound; the sound with a meaning. If there is sound, there should be silence too. They are the different states of the same aspect. Silence is the inherent potential and the dormant state of sound. The sculpture is sleeping inside the stone, waiting for the dexterity of the sculptor!...... In the beginning there was silence; the deep silence before the ‘Big-Bang'....!! And the Word was the sound of silence!!
