FLEXIBLE SOLAR PANELS - LATEST IN TECHNOLOGY!
Flexible solar panels are the latest in the technology concerning clean and inexhaustible energy sources. These flexible solar panels are not only light weight but also incredibly flexible, just like paper and this property enables them to used in a lot of applications. Usually, these thin solar panels are bundled together in groups of about 50 and are then sent for retail sale. There is a wide range of the power capacity (wattage) and dimensions in which these panels are available.
The manufacturing process of these flexible solar panels is quite different from that of conventional solar panels. Flexible solar panels are manufactured using the thin film cell manufacturing technology which produces extremely light weight, thin and efficient solar panels. A unique process called the thin film deposition is what differentiates this technology from that of the conventional solar panel manufacturing technology.
Another important factor to be considered is that the thickness of the Amorphous plastic solar panel is about 1 micrometer whereas the conventional crystalline cells are about 150-200 micrometers in thickness. When the thin layer of plastic is placed on an adaptable substrate, an extremely flexible cell is created since the plastic is so thin that it will bend and flex together with the substrate. Also, one of the major reasons for the increase in the production of these thin panels is that they can be produced in large numbers due to the innovative manufacturing process.
The applications of these flexible solar panels are many mainly because of their flexibility and portability. They may be used as portable battery chargers or energy systems, they may also be imbibed into marine technology or they may be installed on automotives. One of the major applications could be on the windows of office or residential buildings. This would help the buildings produce almost as much power as they consume, giving a new definition to energy conservation.
