Daal is a rich source of protein and is a part of our main course. It is used for preparing salads, deserts and snacks too. It can be eaten boiled, with spices or without and is very healthy for all of us. Daal can be cooked in various ways. The one which is cooked with spices is the Tadka Daal. Tadka Daal when served with Chawal becomes a perfect north Indian meal. Tadka Daal & Chawal is low on calories, mouthwatering, light, easy to cook, easy to digest and is full of energy.
For a single portion of "Tadka Daal & Chawal" we need:
- Maysoor daal (100 gms),
- Basmati rice (150 gms),
- Oil (3 table spoons),
- 2 chopped onions,
- 1 chopped tomato,
- Cumin seeds (1 tea spoon),
- Turmeric (1 tea spoon),
- 1 chopped green chilli,
- Red chilli powder (1 tea spoon),
- Amchur powder (1 tea spoon) and Salt to taste.
We can prepare Chawal (rice) by following the under mentioned steps:
- Take basmati rice and wash it thoroughly under running water.
- Take a pan full of water and put the washed rice in it.
- Let it come on a boil.
- Remove water and keep the cooked rice aside.
We can prepare Tadka Daal by following the under mentioned steps:
- Take2-3 cups of water in a pressure cooker.
- Add washed Maysoor daal, salt to taste and turmeric.
- Cover the pressure cooker for 15 min and let the daal come on a boil.
- Take a fry pan and put some oil in it.
- Add cumin seeds, onions, tomato and let it fry for a 2-3 min.
- Add red chilli powder, green chilli and amchur powder.
- Mix the prepared tadka or masala with the boiled daal.
Tadka Daal is ready to be served with the boiled rice.
Note:
- Change the quantity of red chilli as per the requirement.
- Serve the prepared dish hot
- Serve it with onions, green chillies, pickle, papad and curd.
