A journey by bus or train is quite common. Everyday I enjoy a bus ride to school. I have been to Nashik, Panvel, Shirdi by bus and I have been to lonavala, Pune and Kolhapur by train. But none of these journeys is unforgettable.
My father had to go to Delhi on some office work. Since he was going by plane, he wished to give me a chance to travel by plane. Our air tickets had been booked and we reached the Indian Airlines airport one hour before the take-off time. This was my first visit to the airport. I looked around me just as a villager in a city does. It was a wonderful place. Everything looked so clean, grand and stylish. We were waiting in the lounge along with
other passengers. About 15 minutes before the flight, an airhostess led us down to the plane. A temporary ladder was put up to reach the plane. I took a window seat. The captain's voice was heard just overhead announcing the flight time and the landing at Delhi.
The plane started moving on wheels like taxi. When it came to the end of the runway, it stopped for a final check. The airhostess went around telling us to fasten our seat belts. There was a loud roaring sound of engines and the plane was rising in the air. I looked out of the window and found everything growing smaller. The buildings and roads looked so tiny, it looked like a plan drawn on paper. We could not spot the human beings. Everything
looked so neat and well-arranged. It is quite true. 'Distance lends enchantment to the eye'. The captain's voice came loud and clear announcing the height and speed at which we were flying. I felt as though I was floating in mid-air !
Once again the captain made announcements. The airhostess let fall the flap from the back of the seat in front of me and placed my breakfast on it. Everything was done in great style. I liked the breakfast, it was quite unusual to me. We should be reaching. Delhi is less than four hours. I thought it was just fantastic !
The caption announced the exact time when we would land in Delhi. The aerial view was rapidly growing larger. There was a bump and a light jerk - our plane had touched ground ! The engine sound stopped and the plane was running on its wheels The airhostess thanked us and bid good-bye. She gave each passenger a pleasing smile as we crossed her to leave. It was a great experience. It was an unforgettable and beautiful journey !
