Engineers with CV are like beggars with their plate.
Please don’t mind for my harsh statement above, but this has had to come sooner or later. The way our human resource is being exploited by both the rulers of our country and also the private sector. Especially during and post recession period. The government is also doing the same thing. For instance various graduate engineers are being engaged in non-officially in various government projects on ad hoc basis with very less pay. Especially in the defense projects many unemployed are being engaged for the fulfillment of their human resource capability who do the same thing as that of regular engineer but are paid less that of a daily wage of a labourer. If we compare a regular engineer, as per government he/she gets a monthly salary if approx Rs37,000.00 in the metros where as the ad hoc graduate engineers are being paid as low as Rs5000 and as high as 12000.00 and that also to their kith and kin. Many of the areas where there is need of diploma engineers, their many of the graduate engineers are being engaged for the benefit of duo. They will work both as a technician and also will get low wage and will also work as an engineer in the time of need. This can be said as TINA i.e. (There is no alternative) More ever they are unable to protest as doing so will have to lose their jobs or u can say pocket money. Any way if we compare a permanent peon in a govt post of central govt gets approx Rs 17000. So what can be said when it comes about employment if such thing are not being taken seriously by the government rather un- officially promoted.
Our Mps need 80,001 rupees, bungalows, free travel in both domestic and foreign places along with many other facilities but is not interested at al in solving this problem. Today’s child is tomorrow’s future slogan by the Nehru is proving false, because of this. The government is always saying that more and more number of engineering and technical colleges are being and will be opened but never on the employment side. Where will they go. In the future we will be witnessing display on various wall that “Beggars with bowls and engineers with CV are not allowed”.
Richa menon(name changed), a Bsc student newly recruited in a reputed outsource company says: presently ten candidates including me were recruited in this company whose required qualification was Bachelor in Science, but there were 9 B.Tech students and only me as the only Bsc student, and all this with a paltry sum of Rs.5000 to all. And living in a city like Bhubaneswar where cost of living has tripled within three years is very difficult. The problem is not that they are getting cheap work force but the nine general graduates could have got a job. This type of thing is happening every where and that also mainly in reputed companies. Many of the engineering candidates say that they are force to do so and mainly to gain experience so that they can jump to better pay and good companies.
If this is so then why our government is granting many engineering colleges to open different courses and then starving the engineers to feed upon their own lives and leaving on their own destiny. It therefore the responsibility of the government to ensure that the right candidates with right qualification must be recruited, otherwise the situation will be like a food chain where the chain continues with who its whom, and any disturbance will lead to destruction of the entire food chain.
