Earthquake, Flood, Drought and Tsunami all are natural calamities. But Tsunami is more dreadful of all. Tsunami is a Japanese word. It is formed with the help of two words Tsu+Nami . Tsu means port and Nami means terrible sea waves. So in other words Tsunami means terrible sea-shores waves. Whenever Tsunami happens there is a lot of destruction at the ports and nearby areas. Tsunami use to happen time to time. Sometime they are destructive and other time not so.
Stormy waves also happen in the sea. They also become the means of destruction near the ports and sea-shores. But, there is a lot of difference between stormy waves and Tsunami. Stormy waves happen when there is any storm on there is any storm on the earth or at the sea.
Tsunami happens due to earthquake. Whenever earthquake happens deep inside the sea or at the ports then sea-waves arise in a terrible way. They are very destructive. Man cannot forecast its happening. We have to face many types of ruins at different places.
On December 24, 2004 Indonesian Bornio Island faced a very destructive earthquake. So, Tsunami was formed inside the sea. It was proved so terrible that if effected India and Sri-Lanka also. Coastal areas of Andaman & Nicober and Tamil Nadu faced ruins at many places. We cannot estimate the loss due to Tsunami but lakhs of people died and many more affected.
About twenty five thousand people in India lost their lives and lakhs of them became homeless wanderers. Wounded people are countless in that tragedy. We are helpless for those who have died. The whole world is open heartedly providing relief to the survivors of the Tsunami. Many heads of states, organizations and departments are heading towards the rebuilding process of the victims. We should help them by providing them shelter, food, education, etc. It is a natural calamity. It is our moral duty to do something for them.
