A few months ago India as well as many countries were in a frightened and tensile condition due to the out break of a new flu namely Swine Flu.It was caused by influenza A or H1N1 virus , an influenza virus. The first case in the world was reported in Mexico. The flu spread like a wild fire all over the world. Precautionary measures were taken all over the world to prevent further spreading. In all international and domestic airports entering and out going passengers were tested thoroughly. In spite of all these pre cautionary measures Swine Flu spread and killed many people including ladies and children."Prevention is Better than Cure" . So I wish to discuss in this article how swine flu spreads and how it can be controlled effectively.
Personal Hygiene:-
Hygiene has a very important role in preventing not only Swine Flu but also all types of communicable diseases. The most important among personal hygiene is the cleanliness of both of our hands. It must be clean always. Besides this give an attention to the following matters.
1) Drink pure water as far as possible .
2) Eat good food and include nutrient rich items in your daily food
3) Try to be tension free always
4) Sleep upto the required level ( 6 hours for an adult person ) on all days. Never spend a day without sleeping.
5) Don't mingle with flu affected persons and flu suspected persons.
6) Don't touch the flu suspected areas.
If you care the above points you may be escaped from affecting Swine Flu.But not only you to be escaped, but all man kind in this world is to be rescued from this severe illness. So advise them also to observe the above mentioned activities. Remember a healthy citizen is the wealth of a nation.
How to prevent spreading of Swine Flu?:-
Swine flu spreads through air by the cough and sneeze of an affected patient. So it is sure that if one got affected it will spread there immediately. In spite of all our precautions and preventive methods it is found to be affected to some persons of our home or locality. So we must be aware about preventing further spreading. Hence an affected person should be careful in the following.
1) Keep away yourself from other healthy persons as far as possible.
2) Don't go to office or school or your work place till the flu is completely cured.
3) Cover your mouth either by towel or tissue paper while you sneeze or cough.
4) If you have no towel or tissue paper cover your mouth with your hands and wash it immediately with soap water.
How to resist ?:-
Swine flu had no appropriate vaccine so far. Also the tablets giving to cure Swine Flu(Tamiflu) hadn't proved its curing ability against swine flu.It may be good for other flu infections. So to resist to the disease, strictly practice the following.
1) Always cover your own mouth while sneezing and coughing.
2) Wash your hands frequently or at regular intervals using soap and water.
3) Avoid touching in eyes, nose and mouth of yourself as well as others.
4) Don't mingle freely with a swine flu patient.
5) Quarantine the swine flu affected person till he cures completely
6) Even in a suspected area cover your nose and mouth.
Controlling:-
People must be vigilant to control the Swine flu.Due attention should be given if pneumonia and influenza cases are suddenly increased oddly in a country.People should avoid crowding and also be careful to keep the healthy manners while sneezing and coughing in public places.
H1N1 Vaccine:-
So far the vaccine for H1N1 hadn't discovered. But the Serum Institute of India in Pune is on the last steps of development of a vaccine for H1N1. Bharath Biotech Hyderabad and Panacea Biotech Delhi associate with Serum Institute of India in this project.By the start of next year it is expected to release the vaccine. It is believed that by administering one or two doses of this vaccine immunity will be attained. The test dose is to be given to animals before launching the vaccine into the market.
Features of the disease:-
The common features found in a swine flu affected person are the following.
1) Common Fever
2) Head ache and throat ache.
3) Cough
4) Body pain
5) Vomiting and Discentry in exceptional cases.
Swine flu affected deaths are common in news. But people are still unaware of its seriousness. The flu is spread through pigs. The causative organism is influenza virus seen in pigs. The virus is migrated to people who directly and frequently contact with pigs. The present H1N1 virus is a genetically changed influenza virus.Hence unlike other influenza viruses this one is deadly.(Bird flu which affected a lot of people all over the world some months ago , also was due to the influenza viruses.)
How it Spreads ?:-
H1N1 virus enters human body through various ways like -
1) Pig to Pig and then to man
2) Pig to bird and then to man
3) Man to man
Out of this three methods the third one is most common. The virus spreads through air and water immediately and affects lungs and immune system of body of a person.Since lungs are affected breathing difficulty occurs leading to death.
