When a child who is blind or deaf or may have a deformed body comes in front of you what is the first thought that comes to your mind? "Oh! poor thing" or "Eco! he has such deformed body!" Is that really what should come to one's mind when we encounter something like this ?
It doesn't really have to be this way. We feel we are sympathizing but they think we are mocking at them. If we really want to help them why not let them achieve something in a normal way like everyone else, instead of giving the weird looks and totally unwanted sympathies. What do we exactly think about doing when we meet them? Sometimes people even act as if that is not making fun of them, then what is?
Some say they are special creatures of God but that is offensive too. Because what they really want is being normal and being treated normally. But we neither let them be normal nor treat them so. When a girl with deformed body went out on the streets to play, a lady came into her house and slapped her mother! Why? Because she let that girl go outside. Why does she not have this right of playing outside? Because she may fall or because she 'contaminates' the view of others? But that little girl simply smiled and told her mother that the women had wrong thoughts and the don't want to feel sorry for it. Now who is deformed in the thoughts and feelings? The innocent little girl or the discriminating women? Of course the woman.
Some causes of Physical Disabilities
Prenatal Causes- Many disabilities take place before birth. These disabilities may occur due to infected mother's body that have harmed during pregnancy. These also occur due to genetic disorders.
Post-natal causes- The disability takes place after birth. These disabilities may occur due to accidents, disasters or diseases.
Perinatal Causes- There are chances that the disability occur during the birth and it leads to the Physical deformity of the child. This could be due to Damage to the brain during birth or respiratory problems.
We need to change our minds as well as our views about the physically disabled. They have the desire and ability to withstand and can lead a normal life. But this will only happen if we let them. We need to "RISE ABOVE". If we see them as different, then we are blind, nor they. In many instances we see them as being wise and intelligent, more so than any of us. But still they are deprived of the respect they deserve. A respect free of sympathy and any feelings for their physical features. Is that so hard to give? Is it so hard to rise above, to overlook physical features and see the inner goodness? The answeris in our minds. Because we have created a prticular notion about them that ceases to change. But it is the time to CHANGE NOW AND RISE ABOVE.
"The one who sees the skin is wrinkled, is a fool. The real beauty lies inside"
So look for that inner beauty in everyone. The body is just a vessel, the real deal is inside it.
