Summer is right here. Most people enjoy this season by spending much time outdoors. However, before going out in this scorching heat one must be very careful about their skin. Too much heat can cause damage to our skin. This damage can lead us to early premature, wrinkles, tan and even skin cancer. To enjoy the summer one must take proper care of their skin.
Steps to take care of the skin:
1. How the skin reacts with the heat- Various types of cosmetics are available in the market but many of them do not prefer to use this cosmetic. So one must be careful from the heat of the sun.
- Ultra Violet A- This ray can damage the deepest layer of the skin and can cause skin aging.
- Ultra Violet B- This ray damage the upper layer of the skin. This when enters the skin can cause allergy, sunburn and skin cancer.
- Ultra Violet C- This damages the skin severely and these rays are filtered by the ozone layer.
2. Apply sunscreen lotion but before doing skin testing- There are different types of sunscreen lotion available in the market. Not all of them work it. We often found sunscreen with SPF, which stands for "sun protection factor". This SPF indicates the time one stays out in the sun. There are lotions available with different SPF like, SPF 10, SPF 15, and SPF 20 etc. SPF 15 means that one can spend 150 minutes in the sun. However, after that they need to apply the sunscreen again if one wants to stay more in the sun. However, this will just protect the skin as a safeguard. This is not only the method to protect the skin. This is just the part of protecting the skin.
- If one finds that their skin cause irritation after applying the chemical sunscreen then try for the mineral sun blocks.
- If one has, oily skins do not use the higher SPF. The higher SPF can cause damage to the skin. Try to use the oil free sunscreen.
- Do not listen to the manufactures or the shopkeeper. Apply those sunscreens, which suit your skin. It does not mean that expensive sunscreen lotion are good and those which are not so expensive are not good. Before applying first do research for the product.
3. Staying out in the sun between 10 am to 3 pm- During this time the heat of the sun is unbearable. It is not good for the skin to stay longer out in the sun during this time. The more the skin is exposed in the sun the more the damage will cause. Try to do workout in the early morning, in the evening or when the heat is tolerable and cool.
- It is advised not to stay out in the sun between 11 am to 4 pm. Before stepping out from the home one must check the temperature according to their location.
4. Wear clothes that protect your body- Try to wear light cotton clothes during summer. There are many stores where special summer clothes sold with UV protection. Try to wear clothes, which have UV protection. Cover those body parts, which are much exposed in the sun. Wear clothes, which do not cause any irritation to the skin. Prefer to wear only light color clothes.
- Wear hat- Hat protects the face and hair. The face is most sensitive part of the body and hat acts like a shade and protect the face from getting burn.
- Wear sunglasses- Sunglasses protect the eyes. Eyes are very sensitive. The area around the eyes is well protected by the sunglasses.
5. Protection from tan- Tan is caused due to too much exposed in the sun. Inaddition, it is very difficult to remove those tans. However, various tan removal cream are available in the market. Tan are caused due to sunbath. Too much of sunbath can damage the skin. It is good to take sunbath because it helps to get wrinkle free skin. However, on the other hand it can cause skin cancer.
- Careful of the tan removal products- One must be very careful about the products available into the market. Many companies give assurance that that the tan will be removing but many fake companies also provide such assurance. Therefore, before using the product one must have thorough knowledge about the product.
6. Give the skin a break- Most people they do not use anything when they are out during the rainy season or in the overcast day. One must be very careful that thee UV rays are still present during the cloudy day so it is necessary to apply sunscreen lotion during rainy season or in any weather condition.
- Try to avoid makeup when you are driving or going for holiday. This will help the skin to breathe. Because makeup can close the pores of the skin and makes the skin difficult to breathe.
- Let your skin be free from the cosmetics. Avoid using too much cosmetics in your skin.
7. Rinse the skin after swimming- Before going for the swimming take a shower because most of the water contains chlorine, which can damage the skin and can cause allergy. Make sure that after swimming you must rinse your body and apply a good lotion to the skin.
8. Avoid using perfumes- It is good to avoid using too much of perfumes and body spray. Perfumes can cause irritation to the skin when they are applied directly over the skin. It is better to apply the sprays on the cloth instead of applying on the body.
9. Drink plenty of water- We must drink plenty of water during the summer season. Water helps the skin to hydrate. Dehydration can cause dryness to the skin. Try to drink plenty of water as water helps to flush out toxins.
10. Eat healthy foods- During summer we must have to control our food habits. We must have proper diet. We must eat healthy food as healthy food keeps our skin healthy. We should avoid eating too much of fried food and sugar as this helps in imbalance of the blood sugar level. We must eat salads, fruits, vegetables, juice and steamed food to get healthy and glowing skin.
- Yogurt- We must eat yogurt daily. Yogurt is very good for the skin.
- Add essential fat in diet- Try to eat food, which supply essential fat to the body. Low fat or food with no fat can cause damage to the skin and make the skin dry, make us feel look older than our actual age and wrinkles. Try to eat nuts, fish and other essential fat food.
11. Examine the skin daily- It is necessary to check the skin daily. Sometimes the skin color changes and we must be very careful about this. We must check that there is no irritation, bleeding or itching on the skin.
Tips
- Try to use antioxidants moisturizer to the skin. Some people do not need moisturizer.
- Use water based moisturizer. It helps to repair the skin.
- It is necessary to check the environment where you stay.
- Stress can damage the skin. So try to be stress free.
Warning
- Try to avoid going near the seaside. The sand near the seaside get heated up fast and spending much time on the sand can damage the skin. If spending time on the sea beach carry umbrella with you.
- Lack of Vitamin D can damage the skin. The skin loses Vitamin D because of too much using of the sunscreen lotion. Try not to use too much of these lotion and avoid going out in the sun unnecessarily.
- If anybody finds rashes over the skin while going out in the sun, consult the doctor immediately.
- If you have sensitive skin, then stop going out in the sun. Try not to use any chemical cosmetics. If you are out for the holiday then the entire system will change. You will try for different food, weather, water and environment. So try to increase the immunity system with multivitamin.
