India is hot in summers especially in the month of May, June and July. This is a time when we all face extremely hot winds, high humidity and an average temperature of 45-48 degrees Celsius all over the country. The heat of summers leads to dizziness, intense thirst, blurred vision, nausea, headache, loss of water in our body (dehydration), it brings in the problems related to skin, hair, it effects our ability to think and It makes us restless.
We can overcome the heat of summers by :
- Staying indoors.
- Avoiding a travel during the day time. This is the time when the sun is on a high.
- Using an Umbrella during the day time.
- Drinking lots of water especially lemonade, fizz, chilled beer, soda etc.
- Carrying a water bottle.
- Using shades for our eyes.
- Avoiding oily food and sticking to a low calorie diet. A low calorie diet keeps us energetic all day long. Water melons, lettuce, tomatoes, curd etc are the best foods to beat the heat of summers.
- Using good quality moisturizers and protecting our skin from the harmful UV rays.
- Avoiding silk and dark colored clothes. Silk doesn’t allow air to pass through and dark colors absorb heat. Wear light colors and stick to cotton. Colors like white, cream etc looks descent and keeps us cool in summers.
- Avoiding an immediate shower after an outdoor activity.
- Occupying ourselves in indoor activities such as swimming, spa, snooker, billiards, squash, table tennis, reading books etc and avoiding sun.
- Taking an off or two and checking out a hill station. India is famous for its hill stations. Shimla, Manali, Ooty, Darjeeling, leh, ladakh etc are the perfect hill stations for summers. A visit to these hill stations not only cools us down but it also gives us strength to beat the heat of plains back home.
