Get Rid of Foot Odor
Do you get bad smell as soon as you remove your shoes? Did you tried all the ways to get rid of them? Here are few tips to get away from your foot smell.
Let us first understand the reason for getting foot odor. Medically the foot odor is called as Bromhidrosis. The foot odor is usually due to bacteria's that reside in the shoes or socks and moist foot. There are number of sweat glands located around the foot and soles which produces perspiration.
- The excessive secretion of sweat glands that gives foul odor on bacterial breakdown is the main cause of foot odor.
- Improper hygiene like not washing or cleaning your feet adequately or feet is kept moist for longer time.
- Sometimes the foul odor is associated with medical condition like Diabetes.
- Ingestion of certain drugs or toxic materials causes foul odor.
Few tips to reduce foot odor
- Maintain hygiene - Wash your feet properly and keep them completely dry. But don't wash so often that skin gets scaly and loose its natural oil.
- Moisture-control socks - Use moisture control socks which helps to maintain your feet dry. Your foot needs good amount of air and if they are constantly in the shoes feet don't get proper air. Hence try to keep your feet out of shoes and socks frequently. If you are wearing open-toed shoes or sandal it's better not to wear the socks as your feet would get maximum aeration.
- Use baking soda or talcum powder in the shoes - Sprinkle either of these powder inside the shoes prior wearing them so that the moisture is absorbed and feet remains dry.
- Salt Water and lemon - Soak your feet in salt water and lemon every day for 5 minutes and wipe the water of your feet once washing is done. Salt water helps to maintain the dryness of feet.
- Rose Water - Rose water is also a good source of deodorant. Soak your feet in rose water for 5 to 6 minutes every day so that the stinky smell will reduce over the time. Rose water will provide good mild smell to your feet.
- Vinegar - Soak your feet in Vinegar and warm water for 3 times a week. It helps to reduce the stinky smell and perspiration.
- Do not use excess of deodorant - Deodorant contains excess of harmful chemicals which may not be useful to our body. And excess use may cause harmful effects like skin irritation. Avoid deodorant and instead use rose water .
- If your shoes stinks avoid using it , instead keep it for drying for several days until the stinky smell goes away.
