Losing weight is both hard work and almost always boring. How boring it can have a big part to play in deciding how successful you are at losing weight – if it is really boring it can be hard to find the determination to keep going once the initial enthusiasm for losing weight has been lost.
When it comes to walking for weight loss that is especially true, boredom can make walking a real chore... and with walking you really need to be motivated to get out of the house and start burning calories.

Tips for Making Walking for Weight Loss Fun
1. Bring a Friend. Walking by yourself can get monotonous and dull, but bringing a friend can provide entertainment. Though of course you need to make sure it is not a boring friend! It can also help provide you with some motivation, encouraging you to go out even when you don't want to – and you provide the same service for them, so don't be boring!
2. I Pod. Or any other MP3 player. This can help in 3 very different ways, all of which will provide you with entertainment whilst trying to lose weight through walking.
3. Music. Use the MP3 player to listen you your favourite music, a soundtrack to walking can really help you enjoy yourself.
4. Audio book. You can get entertainment from many great writers by using Audio books, having the book read and recorded to MP3 format. Such audio books have become very popular.
5. Learning. Mostly languages but other learning materials are available in audio format (via MP3s), so you can learn, walk and lose weight all at the same time!
6. Join a walking club. Like bringing a friend this can provide you with entertainment (more so as there are more people) and motivation all at the same time, it also allows you to meet more people.
7. Bring a pet. For many people the enjoyment that pets (ok, dogs, snakes tend to enjoy walking less) get from walking can really rub off on them. Playing fetch, or watching them sprint around a park, can provide a lot of entertainment.
8. Window shop. Sounds odd, but remember – walking doesn't need to be in the countryside. You can wander around town looking at possible purchases and enjoying the atmosphere that you can only get in a busy town.
9. Change the route. You can find all sorts of views and ways to enjoy yourself when walking, but the same route again and again will get boring. So mix things up, walking on a mountain, walking on a beach, anywhere you can think of to keep things interesting.
