Fast food and its side effects
What is fast food any way and why is it fast; does it have any side effect on our health? On the other hand, is that we are only afraid of it just because every one has so much to say about it? Fast food in fact is a food which is available allover the world. You shall find it everywhere you go in one shape or the other. Our youngsters have taken to Chinese or fast food like their regular food and have become used to it. Mostly singles who are college going, office workers or persons staying alone depend upon such food items because they can cook them fast. However, the fact is that some of these foods are not healthy. Letme classify some of the items, which they eat most
Burger- This is one of the most popular items that is available everywhere including canteens, small shops out of colleges, schools, vendors on footpaths and in every colony. This is a good item but if proper precautions not taken while cooking it, it may prove to be a health hazard. Therefore, one must take proper care and see that what you are eating while eating them on the pavements.
Deep Fried items- They do not use oil in most Chinese foods but if you are fond of deep fried items, trust me you are asking for trouble. Food prepared in oil and fried deep contains most saturated fats. Therefore, this is better to avoid it.
Steamed- This is one of the best as far as Chinese or fast foods are concerned. This food is safe for our health and we can consume it without any hesitation. We can add even fried rice in to this category and can go for steamed rice in place of fried rice to make it safer. These are the items generally steamed along with vegetables therefore, safe and healthy for us.
Stir Fried- If you find any thing stir-fried in the menu while planning to eat fast food, you can safely order it because this item contains very less oil and not put to heat for a long time. I love MOMOZ (brand name) this is kind of burger and pizza available in selected places filled with cabbage served with the cream of tomato soup and they come in this category.
Gravy Sauce- This is good to use sauce in a limited quantity because using it in excess may prove not healthy especially if you love to eat gravy items. If you are eating any thing with gravy sauce, please make sure that the gravy, chicken and vegetables mixed and fried together. Using sauce separately in a Chinese dish is not healthy as this may have an adverse effect on your health.
Soups- Soups are the best supplement, which is one of the most used items in our foods. Soup used steamed or boiled according to our choice is good for our health. Soup is not only fat free but healthy as well. There are some precautions if you are looking for packed soup in powder shape that this should not have the tag that reads ‘sweet and sour’ this is more of a health hazard because it contains some unhealthy ingredients. This is best to use beans, cabbage, brinjal and beans sprouts etc while going for fast foods
Fast Food is easily available
Therefore, you can see that fast foods are not only easily available but easy to prepare as well. However, I would suggest you to avoid them for the sake of your health. This is not healthy to depend upon them for regular use even if it takes a very little time to prepare these items. Foods like Burger, Pasta and noodles are popular and among the most consumed items today. However, these items contain a high quantity of fiber fat, salts and calories. You may find them easy to cook but the regular use of these may lead to several problems in the end. Fast foods contain lesser vitamins, minerals and calcium, which are essential parts of our diet. Therefore, this is not advisable to use them on regular basis.
There are some other facts, which we should know while on the subject of fast food:
1- This is not true that zero fat diet is the best diet for our body; our body needs some fat as a mandatory item.
2- This is not true that any amount of sunflower oil is safe for our body, this is not true as excess of sunflower oil can also increase the level of cholesterol in our body.
3- Some people believe that vegetable oils do not contain cholesterol which is not true, excess use of vegetable oil can increase fat in our body and that becomes the reason of excess of cholesterol in our system.
