Infertility means not being able to conceive a child or get pregnant even after one year of unprotected intercourse or in six months if the women are 35years or more in age. Infertility is common in 10 percent of females. The infertility is caused either due to problem in husband or wife. It is necessary to evaluate both husband and wife, find the cause and start the treatment. Some of the causes of infertility are imbalance of hormones in women and low or no sperm production in males. The infertility issue can cause major problems in a married couple like mental depression, anxiety, lack of self – confidence and quarrels between the couples. 1) Avoid smoking and alcohol- Even moderate level of alcohol intake can cause infertility. It is seen in the research that males who are smokers have low sperm count and in women it reduces the fertility.
2) Avoid coffee, chocolates or medicines that contain caffeine - Caffeine reduce the fertility.
3) Replace the meat intake with vegetable proteins like beans, soybeans, peas and nuts which can improve the fertility.
4) Researchers believe that tea helps to fertilize the egg and hence considered as good intake during initial weeks of pregnancy but not in excess amount.
5) Avoid excess fatty diet like cheese, junk food, fried food, etc as the fat may case deposition of fats in the arteries and may interfere with the blood flow towards penis and that may lead to infertility.
6) If the sperm count is too low then start taking Vitamin C tablets it helps in sperm mobility and count.
7) Avoid vigorous exercise as it may increase the estrogen level and lowers the sperm count which leads to infertility but daily exercise in moderation is necessary as too much and too low weight is not good for fertility.
8) Garlic – Garlic is the good source of boosting immunity. Garlic is helpful against the infections like vaginal infection as it leads to infertility. Garlic also contains selenium which is helpful to increase the sperm count.
9) Avoid Ginger – Ginger is usually given to pregnant women who suffers from morning sickness but it is researched that ginger or any food item that contain ginger causes abortion. So avoid ginger in your diet till you’re pregnant.
10) Start taking green leafy vegetables as it contains Folic acid which is good for preventing any birth defects, fertility and avoids miscarriage.
11) Raw nuts like almonds and walnuts are good source to increase the sperm count and maintains the estrogen-progesterone level and thus good for fertility.
