The Union Parliament basically consists of two bodies namely Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. Some of the informations of both the houses are as follows:-

LOK SABHA

1. Basic Qualifications:-
(a) He/She should be an Indian citizen.
(b) He/She should be minimum twenty-five years.
(c) He/She should not be an proclaimed offender.
(d) He/She should have his/her name on the electoral roll.
(e) He/She should not be holding any office of profit.

2. Terms:-
He/She is nominated for a period of five years. It can be dissolved before the expiry of it's term and the term can also be extended.

3. Method of Election:-
Directly elected by Adult suffrage from single member constituencies.

4. Nomination by the President:-
President can nominate two members from Anglo-Indian Community.

5. Maximum number of Members:-
Five hundred and thirty from States and Twenty from Union Territories and last two being nominated by the President.

6. Presiding Officer:-
The Speaker is the presiding officer of the Lok Sabha. He is elected from the members from amongst it's members.

7. Powers and Function:-
(a) Money Bills can only be originated in Lok Sabha.
(b) The Lok Sabha can alone vote a ministry out of the Office.
(c) It can elect the President and the Vice President.
(d) Impeachment proceedings against the President or Judges of the Supreme Court and High Courts can be iniated in Lok Sabha.
(e) Non money bills can also be originated in Lok Sabha.
(f) It can exercise control over the executive.

RAJYA SABHA

1. Basic Qualifications:-
(a) He/She should be an Indian citizen.
(b) He/She should be minimum thirty years of age.
(c) He/She should not be an proclaimed offender.
(d) He/She should have his/her name on the electoral roll.
(e) He/She should not be holding any office of profit.

2. Terms:-
(a) He/She is nominated for a period of six years. Since one-third members retire every two years therefore it cannot be dissolved.

3. Method of Election:-
Indirectly elected by the elected members of the State Legislative Assemblies to represent the respective States.

4. Nomination by the President:-
President can nominate twelve members who have shown excellence in field of Literature, Science, Arts and Social Service.

5. Maximum number of Members:-
Two Hundred Thirty Eight members are elected and additional twelve members are nominated by the President.

6. Presiding Officer:-
The Chairman is the presiding officer of the Rajya Sabha. Vice President is the Ex-Officio Chairman.

7. Powers and Function:-
(a) It has the exclusive power to declare a subject of State list to have become a subject of national importance and can request the Parliament to make laws on it.
(b) It can create a new all India Service in National interest.
(c) Non money bills can be introduced in Rajya Sabha.
(d) They can take any decision on the process of Impeachment.
