It was during the early 1970's,when people in academic or research institutions got an opportunity for an individual person access to the computer but it was too expensive to be owned by a single person.But the price came down considerably due to the introduction of the microprocessor which is a single chip and it contains all the circuitry and this also made the size of the compute to reduce to a considerable level.

The PCs were introduced to the market during the 1980's and since its introduction, the use PCs have become extremely powerful and it has become a versatile tool which have revolutionized how people work, learn, communicate, and and also play games and entertain themselves.

Before 1980's, usually the PC owners had to write their own programs so as to do anything useful with these machines,but today there is no such thing to write the program on our own as users usually have the access to a wide range of commercial and non-commercial software which is provided in ready-to-run form.After the 1980's,two giant companies Microsoft and Intel dominated the Market of the Personal Computers

Usually a PC are most often  used at home, and they are also used in an office and they can also be connected to a local area network (LAN) with the help of cable or it can be even wireless type.A report says that most of the households in the United States have PCs and they consider that as the basic requirement, and to make them easy now the prices of the PCs also come down considerably.
