Hello... It is a dream of every ECE student who graduates to directly get into an organization that offers an opportunity that is directly related to our domain...
Unfortunately thats not the case in all colleges... If u are from a reputed institute like IITs or some NITs, then some core electronics related companies are willing to offer you a job... otherwise in most of the other cases almost all the ECE guys also end up in a software firm...
For an ECE student from such institutes there are two options..
(1). Fo the first few years you work in software organizations and improve your skills and gain some professional experience.. Once you have done that then you can try applying to core electronics companies... as one of my friends put it, working in domains like VLSI, circuits and stuff... Some companies (software) might put you in a project that requires your ECE skills.. So some people stay in those companies itself..
(2). The second option is that you opt for your Postgraduate programs.. Most of the students proceed to other countries for pursuing their masters... Once you have a masters degree then you have an extra edge.. So naturally your chances of getting into a Core electronics related companies increases.. Most of the students who opt for masters in the US mostly end up doing research or work for reputed electronics organizations like TI, Intel, NI, Cypress and what not...
