Web 2.0 is the second generation of web development and web design. It provides more interactive facilities then web 1.0. Web 2.0 concepts have led to the development of web communities, hosted services, social networking sites, video sharing sites, wikis and blogs. It facilitates communication, information sharing and collaboration on the web.

Web 1.0 was just about retrieving information according to user’s need, but web 2.0 allows user to run software applications through a browser. User can own data on a web 2.0 site and have full control over the data. User participation is an essential attributes of Web 2.0 that leads to openness, freedom and collective intelligence. Its other features are rich user experience, dynamic content, metadata, web standards and scalability.

Technology infrastructure of web 2.0 includes server software, content syndication, messaging protocols, standard browsers with plug-ins and various client applications. Web 2.0 websites include following features:

1)    Finding relevant information by Keyword search
2)    Guide to other relevant information through links
3)    Ability to create constantly updating content like wiki.
4)    Categorizing contents by user defined tags.
5)    Using RSS technology to rapidly notify users of updated contents

The reason behind popularity of web 2.0 is increasing use of blogs, wikis, and social networking sites. Some terms like Library 2.0, Publishing 2.0, Travel 2.0 etc. means the use of Web 2.0 technologies in those areas.

Google's First Operating System

That Google operating system it's based on Google's browser, Chrome.

The company announced Google Chrome OS on its blog Tuesday night, said lower-end PCs called Netbooks from unknown manufacturers will launch it in the second half of 2010. Linux will cover the open-source part, but the applications will run online.

In other words, Google has taken yet another big step against the Microsoft Market.

"Google Chrome OS is being created for people who spend most of their time on the Web, and is being designed to power computers ranging from small Netbooks to full-size desktop systems," Sundar Pichai, vice president of product management, and Linus Upson, engineering director, said in the blog post.

Google is talking to Netbook partners now, and the project will become open-source "soon." It will run on members of the x86 and ARM processor families, Google said.

Google declined to comment on its plans beyond the blog posting.

"Any time our users have a better computing experience, Google benefits as well by having happier users who are more likely to spend time on the Internet," Upson and Pichai said.

There were many hints of the First Google's Operating System. But there may be some plugins i guess so as to serve the offline users and let me tell you this Operating system will be based on web browser"Chrome" and will run on all web applications like Google apps and docs.

Hi Friends,

Hey, guess what I found a new search Engine named " WolframAlpha'.

It's really a better search engine which gives a computational statics for every result.

Just go the website and search  for any city, any formula, or any date, any calculation, any thing you like to search. It shows a results in a very conventional  way.

It is really a great website for the students. I search for my location name, it gave a full map with details of the location like the population density, area covered ,etc.

This amazing website is also have sections like Blog, Community, Downloads.

It is less a Search Engine and more a Resource Place.
