Fashion and style for men and women
Look at the men, so boring when it comes to dresses or dress sense. Men have same suits, denims, trousers, nothing much to show compared to girls. While the girls have wider scope in making experiments in clothes although not every dress suits on every girl however, they have bigger choice to pick from the wide range of clothes and designs available to them. However, that again is too wide a topic that dates back to Stone Age. Let us take it this way that men are made that way while the women are there to have all the fun. The fact remains that most women spend most of their shopping time in finding right fabric and stuff for their festival and occasional dresses.
Fashion is a wide subject therefore a very careful selection is needed to choose according to one’s personality and body structure and most women know this very well. Let’s look at some of the dresses available for girls, which are in trend for long time and not likely to lose their place from the wardrobe of girls. There is another interesting fact about the clothes that some of these are popular between both sexes.
Capri
Capri is one such dress, which is popular among girls and boys within last 4-5 years. Girls took this garment to formal level while boys used it for fun’s sake. Capri is available in single plain colors and printed in multi shades, worn with both shirts and T-shirts.
Leggings
Legging seems to be the most ‘in’ dress among girls today for its easy handling and this has encouraged sales of ready made ‘Kurta’ to a great extent. Leggings a popular dress among house wives, college going girls and even professionals like teachers in between every age group.
Anarkali suit
Anarkali has become the first choice of women in last couple years for each and every functions or any occasion with its conventional and heavy look. Any women using Salwar suit taken to Anarkali style from daily wear to big functions with a tight fit Salwar or ringed leg wear to go with raw silk, zari, embroidered with heavy stones, work in satin, Bengal silk both in long and short Kurta. For daily use, they have lots of designs in plain fabrics.
Sari and Lehenga
Sari and Lehenga have been the dresses in most for ages but now you can see considerable changes in these two evergreen ladies’ dress. Ladies are making different experiments in saris with use of net pallu, designer sari pallu studded with stones and stars. Silk always was in trend but now have been replaced by light silk work. Saris with patchwork and precious stones are coming back into fashion in big way. Women are making all kind of experiments in Lehenga and saris with the help of fashion designers. They have even taken out their grand mothers’ collections to use in innovative styles, and these add to their glamour.
As far trend in Lehengas is concerned, the most popular being wide skirted, A lined, and fish cut. Most fashion designers are using net, Georgette, silk, chiffon and crepe especially in wedding Lehengas. The colors used in Lehengas also getting wider with change of time as red and maroon are not the only colors for the occasion but almost every color including green and black are also in the list of fabric designers. Most brides are spending lot of time to find a right choice for their wedding day as far Lehenga is concerned.
Men and fashion
As stated earlier, men have not much of a choice but if you go to a formal party, you shall find almost every one dressed similarly. Same styled suits and shoes the most they can do is to make it three or two piece suit nothing much to change. However in last few years boys too have found a few changes especially in their informal dresses. I suggest boys to spend some time to find out what looks best at them in place of spending lavishly as the saying goes ‘think before you spend on dresses because you may not need it a all or it may not look good on you’
Jeans and tee shirt
With increasing trend of jeans, shirts and tee shirts, college boys to professionals are finding these dresses most comfortable. As far colors, shades and cloth of jeans are concerned the choice is selected like blue, grey and black with different shades and denim as only fabric. However the shirts especially tee shirts have been going through few basic changes in and style and fabric pattern. There is another big change in men’s wear that in place of tailor made clothes boys are going for branded clothes suitable for every pocket.
Sherwani
Sherwani and Churidar pajama are age-old fashion in men’s wear which has come back with a bang with changed trends of Sherwani in contrast embroidery combination with border line and heavily embroidered in big demand in marriages and other similar occasions. Te lower known as pajama has not changed much but jodhpurs were also used in place of pajamas effectively. Now designer Kurta with pajama and Sherwani are among the most favorite dresses of boys for different occasions.
Business suit
Business suits have very small scope of changes apart from fabric used or a slight change here or there. Although suits for formal wear have so much scope with advent of back cut, without color, short sleeved and overlapping jackets. However there never was a big scope for changes in business suits. They used different buttons, real stones or different pocket styles but that was almost all. The blue, brown, black and grey with various shades still are the most preferred choice of business executives.
Traditional Dhoti and Kurta
Indian traditional dresses are in fashion again especially for festivals and big occasions like marriages etc. We can see dhoti and kurta along with formal suits, jeans and tee shirt in parties and functions. As the craze for the traditional dresses is going up we can purchase a ready made dhoti (ready to wear) as it’s not an easy job to wear a dhoti. Today a person wearing heavy kurta with lot of embroidery and dhoti makes him look unique who stands out from rest of the crowd. People are using these outfits with different combination with one thing in common that dhoti is invariably white but kurta in dark colors.
Matching shoes
This is one department where boys have done wonderfully well with so much choice at their disposal. Having so many brands and designs to choose from like canvas, formal leather, sports etc and floaters, sandals, open footwear etc at their disposal in different varieties, colors, shades and price range to select from the boys in this case had all the fun. However the formals never lost importance except a few parts of our country where the weather does not allow them to use shoes in summers. The fact remains that trendy floaters are as popular as the formal leather shoes.
Ultimately
We should conclude at the point that women are better off when the matter of fashion comes forward however the time has changed when people would simply go out and buy whatever they see first thing in the market. Women with their interest in new clothes and habit of looking batter than others want to spend money only after they have spent enough time searching the market for their favorite items. Boys have lesser choices despite the market has so much to offer. Fashion has come to stay in India more than ever before.
