Just four days ago, onion cost Rs 15-20 a kg, but on Sunday, it acquired snob value with a price tag of Rs 67 a kg. While the sudden rise is being attributed to a drop in the arrival of stocks from Pune, Solapur and other parts of Maharashtra to the state markets, it could be linked to Christmas and New Year celebrations round the corner.
