This is a logical move on the part of the government to negotiate the shortage of onions!
it a very good move by the govt as it would help in bringing down the prices of onion.......
hotels in mumbai has started charging extra amount for extra onions served with food.......
lucky me i don;t have to pay extra since i opt for jain food...
You are very lucky but we are not we have to pay the extra price for being onion-friendly!!
Dear Friend,

This has been good step of government in order to reduce some proses. Because this days onion really stinging in every bodies eyes.

Regard's
Bharat.
Due to unexpected rains indian farmer have experienced huge loss of crops and it is going to cost us if export is stopped.
@Rajani

Export is seen to benefit rich farmers and the question of export comes only when there is surplus!
It is a good move that it suspended the exports of Onion as we our self is facing the shortage.
Yesterday in market seeing the onion price I really thought it was mistake. But today stunned seeing the news.
The export market mix for onions changes from year to year, but India's onion exports cater mainly to the neighboring South East Asian countries
Onions are not so essential. But Punjabis and Delhites eat more onions. The rising onion prices led to fall of Madan Lal Khurana in Delhi. The Government has done well to stop export of onions. We should also cooperate by economic consumption of onions. Taking onion as salad can be avoided. The quantity used in vegetables can also be reduced.
I don't think this temporary measure is going to help us.It will hit other things.Govt. should rather concentrate on foolproof strategies.
Is Only Suspension of onion exports can control the current position of India, why the Government is no trying to suspend other products also so that Condition of poor India Become Better.
onion politics is mainly hindi politics since the rate of onion decides the rulers there. What ever the govt taken a good decision

Yes i agree with you about that but i think farmers will not benefit if the product is used for local market only..hope the condition changes. :)
The current high prices of onions reveal utter inefficiency and lack of planning. See below:

The Agriculture minister has expressed inability to contain the price rise in onion for three weeks.

Dear Friend,

I doubt that this step will help to decrease the price of the onions.
