Good bedtime habits, not sleeping pills, is the long-term solution to insomnia, a new study in Germany has confirmed.

Many people sleep better during holidays and long to sleep well all the time. But good habits, besides being free of worries help in sound sleep, according to the German Institute for Quality and Efficiency in Health Care.

Reading and watching TV in bed could actually make it harder to sleep. If people cannot sleep, it is better for them to get out of bed and do something else rather than focusing on trying to sleep.

Getting up at the same time every morning can help too. Napping during the day might make it harder for you to sleep at night if you are struggling with chronic insomnia.

It is also important to avoid drinking caffeinated drinks and alcohol in the evening. 'Most people know that coffee, cola or black tea can interfere with their sleep
Having a cup a hot milk and listening to soothing music will also help us get good sleep.
Sound sleep is a confusing word.Is it mean good sleep or a noisy sleep?

@Abid,

Here is the meaning of Sound Sleep --- sleeping deeply

In this context, sound doesn't mean "Noise".. It should be taken as sleeping deeply.
I totally agree with good bedtime habits. One must not sleep soon after dinner but wait about two hours. One should go to bed only when feeling asleep. He will then get good sleep. This is similar to taking meals only when you are hungry.
Well said Gulshan.... One should not go to sleep after completing dinner. There should be some gap.... :)

A nap after lunch
and
A walk after dinner
is always good. :) :) :)
Well i think with out sound sleep we feel dizzy throughout the day and good habit can always give good results.

Thats fine Abid....

I hope "Sound Sleep" is a very commonly used word... I haven't thought that it would create some confusion... Anyways.. Thats for pointing... :)
Deepti,
I wish to say Commonly used and commonly confused word.Am I right ?
But how many of us have a sound sleep?.My mind is always alert.I usually get up when i hear even small sounds. :( :(
Thanks Deepti for starting this thread! The word 'sound' here has nothing to do with noise and is used here as an adjective meaning 'deep'!
We should be very much comfortable with the pillows and bed we use.It matters a lot to get a sound sleep. :) :)
