Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan on Friday created a flutter when he walked away even when the national anthem was being played at a function here to commemorate the 26/11 terror attack but later denied having done so.

As the anthem was being played on the public address system at the function at Gateway of India, Chavan walked out and responded to the greetings of some of those who turned up at the function.

Chavan denied having insulted the national anthem.

Chavan's denial is acceptable. He could not have insulted national anthem knowingly. But as a public figure, he should exercise more care.
I do not think that there is a reason to make an issue out of this incident! He may have done so unintentionally and unknowingly, but he should exercise more caution.
Given to his state of mind after losing chief minister's post,I am not surprised!
I agree that he may have unintentionally done this...
This could be possible, he could have done it unintentionally but still being a public figure he should be more careful about these things....
Wonderful. We have taught from school itself that when you hear National Anthem stop then and there!
It is worth remembering that no law ever takes into account your intention but goes by your factual action! Such conduct one the part of the former head of a state government should condemned!
In schools we get severe punishment also if the national anthem was dishonoured.
Whatever may be the situation, everyone has to respect the national anthem..Hope such incidents may not occur in future...
