The Union Cabinet has cleared Bill for preventing harassment to women at work places. It is well known that domestic help are most vulnerable but they have been left out for administrative difficulties. This is unfair. The purpose of Bill will not be fully served if most vulnerable section of women are left out. See the link

Instead of excluding women employed as domestic help, administrative difficulties should be removed. An apex body be formed to register women employed as domestic help and appropriate machinery be made for redress of grievances of such women. Local police station and administrative authorities may be entrusted with the job.

Mindset of males as well as females causes sexual harassment. Neither men nor women consider themselves as equal partners in work places. while men are blamed more, women also often attempt to gain undue advantage of their belonging to fair sex. This may result eventually in harassment.

Real change comes with change in attitude. New legislation is also a step in changing attitudes. Men and women at work places need to develop healthy relations and consider themselves as equal partners. Law is necessary for punishing the guilty.
