Forty years after the brutal killing of Naxal leader, A Varghese, CBI Special Court here today convicted former IGP K Lakshmana in the case while acquitting former DGP P Vijayan giving him the benefit of doubt.

The moral for police is- fake encounters will not escape encounter with legal process.

It's surely going to have a bearing on the morale of the police forces.But it's equally true some over-enthusiastic police officers and personnel do look for extra-legal methods to deal with the problem!
