Little pocket money is advisable for urgent needs. Good habits are always needed and it does nt link with money..If they have will to do something bad like drugs they can even get by stealing or other illegal means..
I am not much in favor of giving pocket money to the students, but where its not avoidable, the sum should be very much reasonable and also the parents should keep a check on how and where it is being spent!!
Parents must teach the children to maintain a small book to write about how their pocket money is spent. We can then let them understand about what are the expenses that could have been avoided.
I was given pocket money only during school tours.I had seen many students with pocket money spending by buying useless dirty sweets available on roadsides. Now instead of that sweets some more 'high things' are available.
It is necessary to help children gain practical experience of every aspect of life. Financial management is one such aspect. Pocket money helps children to gain experience in finance management from very childhood. The parents should however take care that pocket money is not too much and is sufficient for child's genuine needs.
Yes,Children need to know about financial management. They should learn from their early ages that just earning money is not enough, a proper plan to save it and multiply it is essential for a safe and a happy living.I think now a days children are very smart.
