Ajmer: In a shocking case of superstition taking its toll on families, three persons of a family died at the Dargah in Ajmer after they had been fasting for 39 days to ward off an evil spell.

Nine persons of the same family are now undergoing treatment at JLN Hospital in Ajmer. The family from Allahabad has been living in Ajmer for a year-and-a-half. The police are now looking into the matter.

This family paid the price for their superstitious belief. They had been offering prayers regularly at Ajmer Dargah and fasting for 39 days since someone had told them it would ward off an evil spell.

It is very sad to hear that those who died are a 16-year-old girl and two boys — one 22 years and another 25.
Illiterate people can be mislead by many ways. Why people don't use their commonsense?
Our people are really very superstitious. We are reminded only when some calamity occurs. Even educated people believe in horoscope aided foretelling, palmistry, astrology and allied matters and suffer the whole life. many seek advice of astrologers for marriage, business forecast, exam results and so on. naturally, people pay the price. sometimes, it is very costly as we witnessed in Ajmer.
Oh!!! This is very sad news.. and shocking for me to know that young people also believe in superstition beliefs... :(

Common sense has become very uncommon. Many will curse the stars and not be more careful even in matters of road accidents.
It is natural to happen if such improper things are encouraged..There are many cases of human sacrifices which is more painful then self-destruction.. :(
Even there are cases where they keep the bodies of the dead people and pray to god for reviving them. :( :(
This is indeed horrible!! Unless people are not educated and made realize that such beliefs are only superstitious nonsense, we cannot progress much!
I think education also lead to superstitions. It is the mind blowing education required for all these.I have a colleague in engineering college who beleives in all such still now!!!I openly said to him that there is no such things.Still he don't beleive!
This is a very sad news indeed.... such young people are so much superstitious.....
