Prevention Of Tooth Decay
Times of Brushing:
Brush at least twice a day morning and evening. Contrary to popular perception brushing should be done after major meals. So you can skip brushing in the morning and can really do it after the lunch and dinner.
Change Toothbrush:
Changing of toothbrushes is very important because due to prolonged usages the bristles become quite ineffective and plaque may grow in them. Change or replace toothbrush after every 2-3 months.
Technique Of Brushing:
While brushing remember to clean the back side of the teeth and the gums as plaque may form there. Use toothpaste with fluoride content.
Mouth wash:
Use dental floss and fluoride rinse for fresher breath.
Tongue cleaning:
Many of us do not know and do not do it while brushing. Food particles may get deposited in the tongue and in time they are acted upon by bacteria and if they are cleaned properly during brushing with the help of tongue cleaner or the brush then they may be the cause of the bad breath.
Herbal Mouth Fresheners:
Cloves, cardamom, tea tree oil they are all good for the teeth. Clove oil is used for treatment of gum problems and pain. After meals you can put a single clove or a cardamom in the mouth for fresh breath.
Foods to be avoided:
To keep the breath fresh you must avoid spices like garlic, onion, and sugary foods. They are also the cause of tooth decay. Have more calcium, and phosphorous that helps to maintain healthy teeth.
